Here in Massachusetts if you have the older white with green letter plates you only need a rear plate. About 10 years ago they switched to white with red letters, and you have to have two plates.
They let you keep the old plates, so here in Mass some people have two plates, some have only one. I have had my plates for 20 years, so I only have one YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

 

Legally required here in CA, but I have not displayed a front plate on any vehicle since 1984 and have never been stopped or cited. Occasionally some municipality decides they are going to enforce it, but the usually the backlash is so strong that they give up on it. Port Hueneme decided they were going to enforce it a while back, but after someone took pictures of the police department parking lot where half the vehicles didn't have plates I think they gave up on the idea.

Correct, In calif. it is required. Now that cameras are stationed at red lights, toll roads, etc., how are they going to catch you without a front plate??

Looking for a better paying job to support my L

 

I am in the same situation. I live in West Virginia were we are only required to have a back license plate but I bought my L in Virginia were you have to have a front one. Well the dealer already put the bracket on when I bought my truck. Since I had no choice but put on a license plate I decided to try to make one that was attractive. What I did was I found a blank stainless steel license plate and put a Lightning badge on it. My truck is silver and this plate really looks tough. It cost me 40 bucks but I think it looks better now than with out a license plate.

No requirement for front plates in Alabama.

 

There is no doubt in my mind that the truck looks much cleaner without the front license plate. However, with a savings of over $1,000.00 per year on auto insurance by being on the lowest step rating, I just could'nt afford not to install the tag.
