Question Air Horns.

I went to attempt hooking up air horns this weekend and ran into a couple of slowdowns.

First off, I have found that our truck as stock horn switch/relay wiring on BOTH sides of the truck. The stock horns are located in the front right just behind the lower bumper, but on the front left, there is an identical horn-electrical harness with power.

My question is, does anyone know if the stock relay can handle a set of air horns and the stock horns? The relay is in the power-distribution box under the hood, but it dosn't have an amprage rating on it. The manual says 20 amps...my air horns need a 30amp fuse, think it will work?

Thnx,
Daniel

I would use the relay kit that came with the air horns. Just tap into the trigger (factory horns) wire to turn on the air horns. I wouldn't mess by adding a bigger fuse to the power-distribution box or problems may occur.

What air horn brand and kit do you have; maybe a part number. When I had Truck Trends put my Hadley dual horn kit with the small compressor, they asked if I wanted to have the steering wheel horn to be the air horn or if I wanted both. I had them do both. I think they just ran power to the battery for the kit. There was a toggle switch on the right panel near the steering wheel. If your kit needs 30 amps to work; don't use the 20. Get a 30 amp fuse link and use that.

Time to get an Ooga horn...Or better yet the one that plays the trumpet song (you know what I mean).
