Hey Rich!
I had a Detroit tru trac put in mine. I have a stock unit you're welcome to, if you need it (I was noticing more rubber on one side than the other during burn outs)

I have an Eaton unit in mine for about a year now and so far, so good. If and when that goes, I will probably go with the Tru-Trac. As far as I know,
they're both about the same price. The only reason I didn't go with the Tru-Trac was that it was just out on the market and I didn't see enough feedback
on it yet. My old stock rear was so bad that it wouldn't even spin both tires in the rain. Your other option is to have the stock unit rebuilt and have it "tightened up" so it holds better.

Tru-Trac.

Bulletproof, no wear parts, smart design, race tested for decades. Works for drag racers and road racers. I can't think of any serious competition to it.

Richie,

I have put over 10,000 on my truetrac so far and she just HOOKS every time.....I have old stocker if you need it....but you will not be sorry with the truetrac.

If that 460 includes shims and bearings then go for it....if not it's still an ok deal.

I too have a blowed posi and will be replacing it next week. I too like the Tru-Trac and am leaning towards it ,but the legendary Detroit Locker is also available for our rearends. So I emailed a tech at Eaton about what he would consider the optimum choice and this is what he wrote me back to me.

"If you do not mind the characteristics of the locker on the street go
with the locker."

Sincerely.

I have a complete rear end out of my truck with about 15,000 miles on it. It still has the factory 3.55 gears. It's been wrapped in plastic ever since I put the new one in. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, in fact somewhere I have all the tolerances that were measured BEFORE it was removed.

If you're interested just to get you by, shoot me a PM. It's HEAVY so shipping will cost alot.

For a dual purpose truck I would go with the TruTrac. A locker is no fun on the street.
Richie I bet I will be in the same boat soon. Hoping to get the Fall season on my trans and rear. Expect to upgrade over the winter.

Don't forget the axle seals. I overlooked them the first time around. I had them replaced when my parking brake shoes got oiled.
