Need help from the Electrical Intelligent
I need some input from the electrical intelligent.
Today I was stopped for having too dark of a tint on the side windows EVEN THOUGH BOTH WINDOWS WERE DOWN. I was asked to roll the windows up and was told they were too dark. While the police were starting to write a ticket, an emergency came over the radio and they had to leave without handing out a ticket but they did give me a warning. I know they will be looking for me.
My question is:
In the fuse box in the engine compartment, there is a fuse for the windows only. Is there a way that I could run an off-on switch in the cab from the fuse so that if I were ever asked to roll the windows up again, I could say that they are broke and couldn’t. By flipping the switch inside, the windows could be demonstrated that they no longer work. If there is a way, how could it be done???

yeah.. you could do that..
i dont know (dont have book beside me) if the window system is tied in together with another circuit.
prolly have to be 2 switches. one for each door.
or.. you could cut the lead coming from the fuse panel & wire a switch to it.
but the best thing to do is get legal tint.
OR
if you have a doctor friend - see about getting a "medical exemption form" for photophobia. photophobia results in nausia/headaches/blurred vision when in strong sunlight.
with this form (from the state police) you can get DARK tint without getting tickets.
but the catch is.. its not entirely legal to get a form that way.
i have several friends that have their trucks WAY dark... my friend "mark" has a '00 F-250 extended cab.. he has double limo on all windows. (sides/back) he has a double limo strip across the front that hangs 4-5 inches BELOW the rear view mirror, and a strip of double limo coming up from the bottom. you have about a 6 inch gap across the windshield to look thru.. (looks like you are watching a "letterbox" style movie) and to top it off, a coat of 35% across the whole windshield to cover up the gap.
i suggest legal tint. but now, you know how to get to the dark side...

One fuse does both doors and that fuse does windows only.
In Calif. there is a new law that states that any tint on front windows is now illegal.
I find this interesting:

In Texas there is legal tint and too dark illegal tint. The legal tint has a sticker put on by the seller that states its the legal tint. Everyone I know with the illegal tint gets the legal sticker from the guy doing the tinting and puts on so the cops really can't tell unless they want to go to a whole lot bigger hassle than they really want.
Beware of tint so dark you can't see out of the windows at night. It makes it very dangerous to change lanes if you can't see into the other lane.

Find the wire going into the fuse box for the windows and put a single pole double throw switch in that wire. You could also wire an inline fuse holder and switch from the terminals for that fuse in the fuse box.
Don't bother with getting the "legal" sticker if your windows arent illegal. Only takes about 5 seconds to slide that little divice onto your window and get a reading. Had the sticker in GA with 20% tint. The little meter the nice policeman had said the reading was 11%. So I got a ticket for it. Personally, I just think the cop was pi$$ed because he had to work on Christmas Day.

Thanks for the info. You are correct. For some reason I didn't think about that. Find the wire going into OR out of the fuse holder, splice a on/off switch on to one, a switch that can be placed in the cab and I done.
