Talking about drastically reducing IAT temperatures....

That is a 3 in 1 system,
1) Intercooler sprayer
2) Fuel chiller
3) Air intake chiller

Just go with the AC chiller or methanol injection. Both will provide excellent cooling.

DEI won a aword at the sema show in 2004 for this setup,,,only problem for me is, that i would only use it at the dragstrip,,,and co2 would cause alot of condensation,,and they throw you off the track if you put water down

for the street it would be nice

Will try this on a 5.4 3V 700RWHP engine in november. Let's see what happens. When my engine is done i will dyno get the numbers, install the 3 in 1 Cry02 kit and dyno again.

I would defientely skip the Intercooler sprayer. Given our water/air intercooler, it won't do much.

I did the calculations and an entire tank of Co2 will only be able to reduce the temperature our of intercooler water by 60C.

This is a lot, but you'd need to be able to do it instantly. Even if you dumped a tank over a 12 second run, you're talking about dropping the intake temperature by about 20degrees F at maximum. (and that is highly unlikley since you'd need a perfect heat pump)

A 10lb tank of CO2 has roughly 650,000 calories that it can cool. Your typical AC unit has about 5,000,000 calories it can cool (20,000BTU). If you are interested in forced cooling, you are best off with an AC unit (or just good old ice) CO2 is about 50x better than ice, but ice is a heck of a lot easier to use and a whole lot cheaper.

Let's talk about HP numbers now, i have a deal with a company who sells that set up and the deal is, if i can prove 600RWHP on my engine and showing them a dyno sheet before the Cry02, after installing the Cry02 set-up they will guarantee 65RWHP gain. If their system makes 64.999RWHP or less them i don't have to pay them one cent.
Fair enough ?

I'd be flashing the truck with 10* less timing between tests with that deal just to make sure...

I have been wondering about the usefulness of a "cool can" for the fuel. I know that fuel temps get pretty high with the high flow punps. I bet cooling the fuel would add detonation protection.
The intake tract cooler looks intriguing, and if it can reduce IAT1 temps there certainly is power there!. I wonder how many would be needed for a good 20* drop. The volume and velocity of the intake tract air must be huge at 60 HP levels.
Good luck with the setup, but I am guessing it won't help very much.
Jim

+1 on cooling the fuel. But I believe 50hp is a stretch. Maybe on air to air intercooling systems.
