You just bashed two...

You're gone!

J/K.

Seriously, this is the Internet. Compared to most sites, this one is well-managed and generally civil. Don't be thin-skinned, or you will make yourself suffer needlessly.

Reinforce positive behavior, and ignore posters you don't care for. If you allow yourself to be drawn into a flame war, come well-armed and ready, or be prepared to pay the price.

Whenever there are two or more people involved in anything, personality conflicts are possible. Some folks are more outspoken or critical than others. That's just a fact of life.

Please don't try to make Steve responsible for being the thought police. He has enough work as it is, and seems to be doing a good job of keeping the riff-raff out.

Yea, why not just give up. It's just to much trouble to make the choice not to read/respond to the few trouble makers. I have probably gotten all the useful info I need for now anyway. Whimper, whimper...

For me I'll try to ignore the Betty's and others like her. And would like to thank almost all who post here for showing such class.

Man some people are so thin skined. I don't agree with bashing but this board has done a pretty good job at jumping on those who do this. But hey to call in big brother or I'll go home.. Not a real standing in there type of position. And on a side note I have a PSP chip and hate to see Sal go. But I also think its the wrong to give in to the creeps. The best advice is to ignore those offending posts and move on.

Its definately not a matter of me not being able to turn the other cheek. That I have done and will continue to do as I don't want add to any of the flaming happening here.

I do ignore the flame wars and have for the last two months. The point I'm trying to make is I didn't have to do this before so if we can stop it now then what are we waiting for.

I'm sorry guys, but you have to put your foot down somewhere and if we don't then we'll have the LS1 board in no time.

Go check it out and see what you think!
www.ls1.com

I think the thin skinned people are the ones that are willing to just roll with the punches.

BADDOG

I'm not bashing anyone I am telling Steve the impression I get from their posts. If I was bashing them I would have addressed my message or topic to them directly.

I don't think you've been a member when the message board was a close knit group so I don't think you know what exactly we are losing here

I post on many other online game forums, where it is non stop flames. That is the nature of most msg boards. This has to be the most laid back msg board i have ever been on. Best thing is for people to stop trying to police it, that just gets the people that are flaming more pissed off and starts it all over again. So bottom line like Baddoggie said don't read posts or respond to the ones from people you do not like. Noone makes you reply or read a post. I think we are old enough to take care of the board ourself with out calling in the webmaster.

First off, let's set some realistic expectations here. Since this discussion seems to be coming to head because of the departure of someone whose obvious purpose here was primarily as a vendor, secondarily as a enthusiast, I will be honest that certain cases are going to be treated differently.

Case #1: Ray (ie BADASSSVT, Lightningquick, etc.) - He clearly violated the rules, I revoked his posting rights and dozens of people lambasted (sp?) for doing so.

Case #2: Several people register her from a "competing products board" solely for the purpose of flaming Lightning owners. A clear violation of the terms, I evict them, nobody complains.

Case #3: A couple people that use competing products of a highly visible vendor register to bash that vendor and his products. One gets removed and continues to re-register. He gets removed again. The vendor, who has been reminded repeatedly publicly and privately that this is not a forum for his business, decides to leave because he feels he is being treated unfairly.

All Cases: Steve (webmaster) spends hours trying to document the troublesome users, contact their ISP's and have their accounts terminated, loses sleep, gets threatening phone calls. All of you sleep comfortably.

In Case #3, I have absolutely no intention of feeling sorry for a vendor who has been told repeatedly that this is not intended to be used a forum for his business. Sal is am adult and I have no plans to cry any tears for him. I even suspect some of the problems that have been occuring will now decrease because his "business" is not dominating the Lightning forum.

Also notice that this type of (sustained) behavior only occurs on the Lightning board. Can someone tell me why this is? Are Lightning owners different that regular F-150 owners?

I echo the suggestions of others here. Look the other way and most of these threads that turn into personal attacks will fade away as quickly as they start.

Pacecar18, you can copy and paste anything you want but remember we did ALL agree to abide by these terms, including not selling. I do the best that I can, but have you noticed that when I enforce the rules to the letter someone always gets mad at me? Seems like I can't win. Yippee!

Pacecar,

FYI, I've been around this board a lot longer than you.

Frankly, everything was fine as long as it was a bunch of old farts with '99s. The problems started with all the young punks and their 2000s.

We should throw 'em all off.

Please note smiley-face, denoting attempted humor. You seemed to have missed it on the first post.

Baddog .. I know a lot of young people that know the trucks better than some engineers because they take the time to study them real good. I know what I am doing when I get into a job. I don't like to badmouth anyone till they say I doin't know what I'm doing. I have built a 11 sec 94 lightning.... Who know you might see the 2000 bolt be the same you never know. I am older now and don't think I'll take it that far. I was just in a V-10 Prototype Lightning truck yesturday. So fast... Gotta have it... It went so fast in QTR. Mile... Wow... G-tech said 12.14... Went fastin the corner... Slides comming out at 90mph... Took the truck up to 165 on 96... my friend said it would go 190 easy... I told him I would believe it when I see it.
