time for a new engine, need recommendations please

I'm looking for a longblock and from what I can see on the websites, most of the shortblocks are around the same price (~3500) but the head options are endless. Something with ported heads and cams already installed.

I'd like to hear what you guys have purchased and if you were happy.

Thanks in advance.

You can't go wrong with any of the major vendors. Just do your homework and decide on goals of what you exactly want out of your truck. Take it from there.

I would call a couple of the vendors and just see whom you hit a comfort level with then go from there.

can anyone tell me where I can get a new OEM Longblock for a good price (sans intake/supercharger)? I saw the one that Razorsedge.com was selling for $3700.

Thanks for the replies guys

I'm built and a KB. I would strongly advise you to check out the vendors track record. The main issue will be standing behind their work and the parts they put in them. Anyone can build an engine but not everyone will treat you the same when you leave and they have your money....

Ask questions and do a little home work. I think all the vendors are pretty equal engine builders. Do a search on engines and look at some previous posts.

We all have our own opinions and the three major vendors that build engines are JLP, JDM and PSP. I think PSP does most everything at their shop. JDM and JLP do allot of long blocks that come ready to drop in.

I used to be out your way. I spent 2 years at Fort Bliss. I really enjoyed it.

well I'm at a point right now where I really want to keep my truck but I am not sure whether I am willing to spend all the $$$ that comes with going superfast. I would prefer a built block but with that comes cams, supercharger (upgrade) then it needs fuel upgrades, trans upgrades and I am in this neverending cycle. I would really prefer to stick a new Ford engine in there but there is no guarantee that I won't have the same oil burning puff of smoke on startup engine that I got with my new truck. Guess I'll just drive her till she blows up

Go here and call them to see if they have any L engines or longblocks that aren't showing up on their site. I just got a brand new L engine from them for $3695 and it wasn't showing on there.
