I highly recommend the 01 Lightning. It is more practical than the firebird, and just as quick, with a chip. Firebird has it in top speed, but who really needs to go that fast. How much does the Formula cost? I think the 01 will go for approx. $32k.

I wouldn't woory about the insurance too much, my insurance carrier recognizes the Lightning as a 2WD pickup, not the hot rod that it is. It only is about $275 every six months for me. I can handle that.

Take the truck out for a test drive... Everyone one has a yada yada yada, how many people have Lightning ! Not that many are made, and its a awsome truck. Insurance is low to !

Evil Guy, I have a '99 Formula w/ 6 speed and a '00 L. If I had to choose between the two it'd take about 1/2 second for the Formula to be gone.

Evilguy,
i am planning on buying my wife a 01 or 02 Trans-AM ws6. As for the insurance mine dropped 40 a month, I had a 99 f150 4X4 before.

Also, you guys make me sick talking about your insurance being about 250-300 or so every 6 months!!! I pay 170 EVERY month for my L and my Civic. I guess that is what you get when neither you or your wife are older than 22!

I could have purchased any car that I desired. But I got excited about the L's because they are unique, they are a sleeper when it comes to performance, I can tow, and I can even bring home a 1/2 ton of fertilizer if I wanted.

Looking for a better paying job to support my L

Evilguy,
What kind of a bike are you planning on getting? Motorcycles rule!

Don't worry about insurance. As a third vehicle, AAA insured my 2000 L as a "F150 SVT Lightning" and yes with the supercharger knowledge for only 600 a year. And, yes this is in California where the insurance rates are reportedly the highest!
It is better in my opinion to insure it as it actually is rather than a reg 2WD F150.
If you get into an accident, will the adjuster only pay for items listed in the Mitchell books under a regular F150...?
Probably so. That means, engine parts, trans parts, rear end, suspension, interior body pieces etc etc etc... wont be properly covered.
After you get one and insure it properly, HAVE FUN!
