Hi there, Y2KBLKLITNIN,
Wow, I didn't expect to see you pop up here, that's great, thanks for your post!
Jay is a great guy to work with, isn't he? He and I have had a good close working relationship for some time now, and he has been extremely responsive to all the input we've given him, as the single largest supplier of performance chips for Lightnings.
I was very happy to see that two of our specific requests were handled, and that more power was obtained safely on pump premium gas.
Have fun with your 'Bolt,

Hi SVT-Snake,
Yes, any new Superchip from us for the 2K Lightning will have the benefit of this new program.
Good luck with your wife, I have one of those "VP's of FInance" too. Or maybe I should call her the President, instead of the Vice-President?
Have fun,

Hi NsTiG8r,
That's an excellent question, and a hot topic.
Under the law, and specifically the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, prior to the denial of any warranty claim the automaker must first *prove* that the aftermarket part in question was the sole cause of a related parts failure; they must further prove that had the aftermarket part not been installed, the related parts would not have failed, and that is *very* strong legal protection. And no, the Superchip will not cause damage to your Lightning.
That being said, there are some dealerships that will have a fit if anything without a Ford logo is installed on a vehicle, and many of them are not aware of the law, which is why it is critically important that you do know your actual legal rights. We have seen dealerships that didn't care if you put a supercharger on a regular F-150, they would just charge you the extra labor they incurred from having to work around it. And then we've seen those dealers who see red if you have something without the Ford logo on it, and everything in between.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act basically sets forth a set of "fair-play rules". Meaning, the automaker is not held legally liable if you install a part that actually causes damage to the vehicle, which is as it should be. But as long as whatever part you install does not actually cause *damage* to the vehicle, they cannot legally deny your warranty claim.
Here is a link to SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, who got the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act passed, basically, through all their efforts. And by the way, this web site is a member of SEMA, as are we.
http://www.sema.org/fedleg/warranty
And by the way, this doesn't just concern aftermarket chips, but ANY AND ALL aftermarket parts of any kind, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is the applicable law, and is enforced by the FTC.
SEMA also has a fax-on-demand service you can access at: 909-396-0182, ext. 750 and request document#904, or check the "Improper Warranty Denial" section of the SEMA website.

Hey Mike...I am pleased with the chip,No Walls on this chip. The A/F was set at 11.2 which should be a safe level.I believe the factory setting was at 9.8 I think this is one of ,if not the best chip for the 2000 L today.Anymore than this and I think your asking for trouble.Setting 2 works very well with 93 octane plus boost,to get the octane at about 100.That is what I asked for,and it works perfect! No ping,no problems, just performance! Thanks Superchips, and Mike!

Hi LSTORMN,
No, the PSP chip cannot be updated with the Superchip program, that can only be done in a Superchip.
However, I'm sure Sal of PSP will be happy to make any changes you might want to yours, just give him a shout.

Superchips_Distributor,
I have often thought of purchasing a product of your type, and I have seen other people that have had chips. Most of the trucks take well to the chips, but some do not, and when the stock chip is replaced, the problem still persists. They take it in for warranty and soon realize the claim has been denied. They try another dealer, and low and behold they are denied again, a type of black listing. Should one be blacklisted, would Superchips work with the customer to try to straighten out problems with the dealer as K & N claims on their website? It is not an easy task taking on a warranty denial, and in my view, nothing short of a court order will change a dealerships view of such a matter. Thanks for your time.

Oooooohhhhh my... and I thought PSP was bad... 3000 and how many messages??
At least Superchips does invest alot of money testing their product, and in advertising.
32 HP, holy *****.
This isn't at all like PSP, that's actually bragging rights.

Tundra,
As I posted above, if *any* aftermarket part can be shown to actually cause damage requiring repairs, the automaker should not be held liable.
I can only tell you that we've never seen a properly installed Superchip damage any vehicle, and we've supplied them for thousands of vehicles for the better part of the last decade.
Should anyone have a problem, as per the notice that comes with the Superchip specifically about new vehicle warranties, you contact Superchips directly at their toll-free number for that purpose.
