I believe Tim Skelton uses a remote filter setup that utilizes two filters.

What I'm looking for is just a larger filter that will work. On my wifes pont. Grand Prix GTP I use one for a 4.3L Blazer the same year, same filter just larger.

I have done that in the past. All you have to do is get the same thread size and O-ring location and as long as the filter length fits, your golden.I think I'm going to open an 820S and go shopping!

I have there origional style oil filter. Well made easy to clean and reinstall. One problem I had was it comming loose and leaking. You can safty wire it, which is what I did. The new style might be better at staying tight. I think it is because of our oil cooler adapter being made of stamped steel, and the o-ring on the CM filter. Hope this info helps. Artie

I bought and installed one on my 2001 L. Never again! VERY expensive(plus the ongoing cost of their replaceable filter unit) and though it may not have had anything to do with it, my engine lost all oil pressure and burned two rods and their crank journals. It was probably a combo of my inattention to timely oil changes and the oil but.................................

I was thinking the same thing, Dan. Why go through all that expense, when you can just get a longer one that fits???? Just another pricey gimmick.

HI!... I run a dual oil filter set-up on my truck. Two K&N HP-3001 filters. They hold about 1 liter each. Those combined with my deeper oil pan I have a total of 11 liters of MOBIL 1 in the engine.

I also run a external aux tranny filter as well. Same filter as the oil.

That nut used to be standard on the Wix filters decades ago. I still don't know why they did away with it.
