Question Will my Stock Block Blow?

I'm looking to get my Eaton ported by Stiegemeier, but i am still debating on whether to do the port or just leave it alone. I want to keep my 6# pulley and maybe my 2.7 upper pulley on after the port is done. My question is, will this be too much power (strain) for my stock block to handle, keep in mind that it is only a daily driver (Work/School) and I also travel on the highway(Im only saying this because I've heard stories of the motor Blowing on the highway ) I have also wondered if buying new (better) rods would prevent my block from blowing. Would I also need a retune after the port?

Thanks,
Matt

survey says..........YES, absolutely.

Tuned by a popular Lightning Tuner from this forum, 16 psi on a stage IV port. it was a Steig port and no problems from the SC but 2 weeks after putting it on.....BAM

Ran a whole year on the same setup without a ported SC. I mean really running it almost every weekend.....no problems.

sent my Eaton off and got it back. Sent off for a new tune and put them in at the same time....TIC, TIC, TIC.....It is only a matter of time.

Anything over stock and your pressing your luck. How far are you willing to push it? If you cant afford a new engine then stop right now untill you have the funds!

500/600 club on stock block for some time now. Get a good tune and you should be fine. Detonation is what blows these motors up at your power level.

The tranny is the what you have to worry most about. Mine's done. LOL I'm waiting for my BTS unit now.

Not sure I agree with most of you. It's all in the tune. I ran a ported eaton and 6lb lower for quite some time with many passes on the track and now have a KB on the stock block and pushing 500/600 and no issues.

Well I would love to hit the 500hp marker but the L is my only truck and if the engine blew, I would be stuck and my parents would kill me. I think im going to pass on the port and focus on other stuff like electric fans, traction bars, and a bigger heat exchanger, because there is no way I can afford a built block. Thanks for the input everyone.

6# lower, stock upper and a Steig port is a good combo. Get a real nice dyno tune and you will be fine.

You won't see 500 rwhp with that combo anyway. The e-fan, traction bars and heat exchanger are good mods, too. I'd have them before turning up the power. I'd also skip the port job and save my pennies for a KB or Whipple. You don't have to use the full potential of the blower; but, you'll be ready for the next level when you take that step.
