few ?'s

Hi, im new and looking into getting a lightning. Ive currently got a camaro im getting ready to sell and i need a truck.I've been looking at lightnings for a long time ive always liked fast vehicles and have loved the thought of a truck that could beat alot of sports cars. So im just trying to figure out info on these, such as what years are the best, how easy these are to get more power out of, maybe a comparison of what these trucks can run against in a race. Also do these trucks have problems when they get over 100k or anything like that, or do they need expensive tuneups often. Just basically any info i can get. So anything yall can tell me would be awesome.

Is the 2001 -2004 the best years to get? Which years have the most potential for speed?

With the proper mods, any year L can be made quicker. Look at the record books and Ls from all years have very quick times in the 1/4.

The 03/04 Ls have better heads than the earlier ones due to there 8-9 spark plug threads vs. the 4-5 threads in the earlier heads(maybe leading to a blown plug[s] although my 01 never lost a plug in 92,000 miles).

If i was back in the market i would either get a 99-00 with the intercooler recall done or a 03-04. All can be made to run 12's safely for around 1k bucks and still be reilable.
