Question Blower Pulley... Which one Price?

Where can you get the blower pulley.. Also what did you pay? How easy was it to put on the new one and take off the old? Did it make a huge difference? Looking to buy one. Your feedback is appreciated. I spoke with a eaton Engineer yesturday and said they have done some inhouse testing and said they had the blower spinning at 19282 RPM's told me it would not hurt the blower but the Head Gasket might not hold up...

Takes a bit to take off and put on, had to go to a shop myself to get it done, but you'll have a blast with the pulley. Cheap mod for kick it puts out.

Don't know if it had a name, but was 4 C-clamp. They also used a hydrolic shop press to put the new one on. I got mine from Sean Hyland Motorsport (SHM), paid $125 plus shipping which was something like $20, and another $65 at the shop to put it on. Took them about an hour, taking the snout off, and changing the pulley's, etc. From what I seen, it's not exactly something you'd want to try without the right tools, would have to be whacking the snout pretty good without the right tools to change the pulleys

Auto Specialties makes a pulley and a puller for it. Like Moses said, some have had problems putting on and taking off (like me), while others went on without a hitch. www.autospecialties.com

SilverBullet, they never told me anything like that, changing the oil or anything even relating to that.

Question

was gonna wait till someone came out with a crank pulley...BUT if i can find a speed shop with a hydrolic press, the blower pulley sounds like the way to go.How many extra pounds of boost do those suckers put out?If i have my lies straight i heard that each pound of boost is like 12hp?is that right?
Jerrod,
did you get the asp puller and do the install yourself?and is it something you would recomend doing for a do it yourselfer?

Question

SilverBullet....did they give you any insight as to how those installs damaged the blower?....I'm thinking of doing this mod, but I'm still not sure if I want to risk my blower. Thanks for the info on the motor oil

I looked all over for the install booklet that came with the pulley, couldn't find it, finally got a hold of the guys that put the pulley on for me. They said they used the same oil that they used in Vortec and Paxton blowers and was also said to be used with the eaton in SHM's instructions, which is no more than heavy duty motor oil. The viscosity is identical, only difference would be that the supercharger oil would heat up faster than the heavy duty motor oil. To me that was a good enough answer to me. Basically the difference between Energizer and Duracell the way they worded it.

Interesting Info Moses......

I know for a fact that the Vortec units use engine oil to lubricate them as you put a tap into the oil pan. So any type of 5w30 is adequate. YOu just have to be very vigilant to when you change it. I have installed 7 of these units and they are a P I T A!! However, I smelt the oil on the Eaton units and that isn't any type of heavy duty motor oil. I wonder if it is safe to put in a heavy motor oil instead? I guess that we will find out sooner or later. Thx for the interesting info!
