Post BABolt...some info or help

Hey BA......

Just a couple of questions for you on your dual Borla system. I am looking at making a similar setup as you have.

Which Borla mufflers are they? Do you have the specific part numbers? I haven't looked what will fit but it seems like they both have centre outlets (although inlet/doesn't matter with Borla..) Are the inlets offset? What size inlet/outlet....2 1/2.

And finally, is there any drone with your setup on the highway and how loud is it? Unbearable?

Sorry for all of the questions but I wanted to get all of this done by next week.

Please let me know ASAP when you have a moment.

Thx kindly,

Paul G.

Cool

Paul
They are 2.5 in and out. It had a real nice sound when the cats were in place and even sounded nice when I took out the cats and added resonators in there place. As of three weeks ago I now have long tube headers and just the Borla's. Sound very very nice at idle and at cruise speed, just don't hit the loud pedal. I really like it now because when someone tries to street race me I just mash the pedal and they back down.I will get the part numbers for the Borlas and post it.
PS. Plans are to have an x-pipe in place and route the exhaust out both sides. This again should change the sound.

Thx a bunch BA! Nice driveshaft loop. Looks cool!

Thx also for the extra pictures. What a neat looking setup you have now! From what I can tell it looks like you have 2 centre outlets on each muffler and 1 offset inlet. Shouldn't be a problem.

Question

BABolt, where did you get the long tube headers. I was going to put JBA's on until I found out that they are shorty headers. In my brief experience with headers, I have found that shorty headers are not near as good as long tube headers as far as hp gain. Would really love to put some ceremic coated long tubes on. Have you had a chance to do a dyno on the headers. Your system looks great by the way. I have an X pipe on my modified 65 mustang and love it, although I don't think I would spend the bucks on it again since most articles I have read comparing the X pipes to H pipes shows no real gain (a couple even showed H pipes as being more powerful). On my 67 vette, I just had my muffler guy fabricate a H pipe and saved a bunch of money. Jeff

A friend made them. They are 1.75 primary tubes with a 3 inch collector. Yes, I made more horsepower than with my other system. About 383/384 at the rear wheels, depends on the dyno pull you look at. Each tube bolts to the head individually (exception cylinders 5 & 6 paired flange ) and is joined by a slip collector. Still doing testing. Plan to lengthen primaries and redesign the collector too. Once complete will build a jig and can offer for sale.
