Thumbs up Third gear scratch!

Just got my Level 10 shift kit installed. I never thought my L could 'scratch' the tires @ 90 mph! What a ride!!!

Later,
Jake...

P.S. Thank you Steve for getting the board back on-line. It is greatly appreciated by all of us.

Hey that sounds like good news to me! All you need to do is take it to the track and run 12s! Do these kits void the warranty?

Wink

Tundra,
I think 12's might be pushing it a bit without a torque converter. I will be happy to see 13.2's or so.

Warranty? Hmmmmmm, I guess I just will have to keep this shift kit 'my little secret'.

Spiro,
Good to here from you! I didn't have the kahunas, or a hoist, to attempt the install myself.

Later,
Jake...

Jake, now you'll just have to try racing without the back full. I don't know if I can beat you anymore. Tri-State sent me a check for 40.00 for Sun, about 80 cars in sportsman. One run ( Lose Boost)away from the big money!
Thanks to you and Lightning Bob for all the help & support Sunday!

Baby Jake

By any chance, did they send you two kits?
Please e-mail me with source and price. Say Hi to Lisa for me. Think about Byron, and let me know.

Lightning Bob

Spiro: How are we ever gonna keep up with you? I think those pockets are bottomless, not empty. See you next summer.

Hey guys, I even did the the 4-way chip upgrade from Sal. Now I have my favorite programs at a turn of a **** all the time.

Tundra, I figure if there was a problem, all I would have to do is swap out the 3 springs. There's not much too it.

Baby Jake, The only reason I attempted it was that I have a mechanic's pit in my garage.

Lightning Bob, Good hearing from you, You won't believe it if I tell you, I am currently installing 3.73's also. The Pockets are now officially empty. Can't wait to see all you guys real soon.

Lightning Bob,
Sorry dude, they only sent me one shift kit. DARN!!! I will e-mail you from home with the details. Did you get the shackles on yet?

Reality1,
I'm not sure just how fast my truck would be with an empty bed. Might have to give it a try next time.

Spiro,
And the plot thickens...

Later,
Jake...

Yes, the warranty on the trans. will be cancelled. Ford can tell if a shift kit was installed even after it has been taken off. That is what I have been told by a trans. tech.

This may be a stupid question but how do these "shift kits" work? I mean what do they do to the tranny to get such firm shifts? Thanks for enlightening me!

Cool

SVT-Snake,
Unfortunately, I am no expert, but I can tell you that two valves and three springs are installed/replaced. I can also tell you that IMHO this is the best money I have spent on my L, aside from the chip, of course.

Later,
Jake...
