Unhappy Magnaflow High Flow Cats Rattling????

Ok, so i drag my truck in the shop to change my blown out collector gasket. So i undo the collector bolts, and change both sides. Bolt it back up, pull it out and put it in park, get out shut the garage door , come back. WTF???

Sounds like somone was shaking a can with nuts and bolts in it!!! Crawl under there, nothing rattling, nothing loose. Can't figure it out. Sounded like it was comming from the tranny pan, put my hand on it, couldn't feel anything.

It's definetely coming from the drivers side, and it's the cat I think. Sounds like I dropped some hardware in it before I bolted it back (which didn't happen).

Is this what they sound like when they go??? 10k miles on them if that. It sounds horrible!!! Was fine before I undid it.

I had the same problem with one of my hi-flow Magnaflow cats. Mine was on the passenger side. It would rattle from time to time and was hard to pinpoint. I finally went to a exhaust shop and they changed it out for me. The inside of it was completly gone. I think I would hear it rattle when a piece broke loose then when I spit it out it would quiet down until another piece broke loose! Jim

Yep, when cats break up it can sound like a "box of marbles". Sorry about that, but these hi-flow cats (in general, not just with L's) don't last _that_ long... certainly not even close to an OEM cat.

not the cat

it wasn't the cat, one of the washers fell in between the heat shield part of the cat and the cat!!! Just my luck. Better then a new cat. All is well!!!

Caught a break for once
