Post Opinions On The Steel Horse Carpet Bedliners?

I am planning to purchase a Carpet bedliner for my new L and was wondering how the Steel Horse liner compares to the Bedrug? The Steel Horse liner lists for $175.00 and the Bedrug lists for $349.00. I was wondering if the Bedrug was made that much better to justify spending the extra money?

HANKFAN,

My opinion must be taken with a grain of salt, (I own a BedRug). However, I would spend the money again for a BedRug in a split second! The quality and fit are 'TOP SHELF'. I acually fell asleep in the bed of my L @ WFC!

Just my $.02.

Later,
Jake...

I had a steel pony before i got the BedRug and pay a little more and get your moneys worth. The stell pony fit like a sack on a fat woman. I sent it back and got my money back. the tailgate peice kept fling off when going down road.

I have a Steel Horse liner in my "L" and it's been there for about 1 year now. It is a 6 piece velcro together liner that leaves a little room to the term "fit". It uses the peal off stick on velcro strips which I do not like. If the BedRug is a one piece, with only the tailgate cover as an extra piece, I would buy it over the SH. I'll live with my SH, but would have bought the other if I had know what I know now.

The Bed Rug that I got,(and it took a while as I think they chaged it) is a two piece carpet. The sides and front are all one piece that zippers to the bottom. The bottom piece now continues up the tailgate as one piece. There is extra material that slips into the tailgate gap. It is all one piece streched flat when the tailgate is down.

I was a little disappointed with the fit as the floor piece has some humping in it that just isn't going away. Otherwise, a quality piece.

This is just my opinion, but the Bedrug is by FAR better in quality and fit compared to the steel horse that I saw in some pickups, not Lightning. If had to buy again, I would run not walk, to order another Bedrug.

BedRug is the way to go.

One of the best mods so far.

Question

Was just wondering how the bedrug is installed if it is screwed down in place or if it's contoured to fit and doesn't need anything special to hold it in. I've gone to their website didn't see any info. on how it's installed. Also for anybody who has bedrug & tonneau cover is it easier to get bedrug first then get tonneau. Thanks

The fit is very tight but the bedrug uses Industrial velcro to stay in.

Wink

Put the BedRug in first. The Tonneau Cover will be in the way when you install the front part of the BedRug.

Thanks for the info. Silver 2000 & adp both of you answered my questions. I figured it would be easier to do the bedrug first but thought I should ask & find out before I did something backwards.Adp Great pics. just wish there were other L's in my area that I could maybe hang out with.
