new suspension is on!!

took me and svt_ky a couple of days work (six hours or so all together) but stage one of my suspension is done. we installed my ruslow 1200lb coils and hotchkis leafs and man i could not be happier. the truck rides so much better now. it feels alot more stable and solid now. my wife even likes the way it rides. the truck also looks 10x better. the stock #s were 19" front/rear (w/2" drop shackles). the after #s are 18" front and 18"/17.5" for the rear. the front was at 17.5" before the alignment . the rear has appeared to have settled alittle so i need to check the #s again. i think i will cut the coil to get it done around 17" or install a set of wc control arms. hope to post some pics soon.

now i need to finish the suspension with shocks, sways, and a panhard bar.

Your truck looks sooo much better ... I wouldn't cut a coil,
but I would think about the WC control arms ...

you could take out the spring spacer/cushion...that'll get you another half inch lower.

yea i will just go with the wc arms and do it the wright way.

i did take out the rubber spacer when we installed my new springs. i guess the 1200 lb coil rate keeps the drop down to 1" or so.

i have noticed that the front end clunk has gotten worse since lowering the truck. going to order a set of clunk washer to install. should i check anything else?

took pics today, but i have to get a friend to post them for me. card reader is broke.

thanks again cliff and i am done with your tools.

The end links for the front anti-sway may be banging around. Mine pop and groan all the time.

Ive read so much about the clunk in the front of our trucks. I did an alignment about 2 weeks ago on my 04 myself at my job. I hit the upper arm bolts (with the camber/caster kits installed) with a 1/2 inch impact gun and i havent heard the clunk since. Ive seen 2 other vehicles come in that had the same noise when turning and it was the upper control arms not being completely tight. Just thought I would share that with the L community and maybe that will help some problems!

Thanks for that tip ... I think the UC arm bolts are like 120 FT LBS. Hard to get with a 15/16" wrench

I used a 21mm swivel impact socket on the outside while holding inside with wrench. Your right though, not much space to get wrenches or ratchets!

The single biggest "CLUNK" comes from ungreased steering stops.
