I need some help please!

I own a 96 Mark VIII. and it has a short in the steering column that effects the AC, and now, today, I drove the 02 L and guess what, yes, now when you turn on the head lights the bright indicator comes on whether you on dim or bright and the head lights DO NOT come on at all. Everthing else works accordingly. I'm just about the end of my wits on electrical B S. Can anyone help me besides going to the local dealer and paying $500 dollars an hour to fix this? I know they are trying to make a living too. I'm just pissed! Oh! by the way when you hit the steering wheel the horn honks, figure that.

Do the parking lights work? What about the brake lights and turn signals? Do you have the autolamps or are they manual? I can look in my wiring book and give my best guess if you give more info.

Yes, I've tried the auto lights and the head lights still do not work. EVERYthing else still works the same including he running lights at the bottom when you pull them on. But the head lights refuse to work. NOW, noted the drivers side head light did not come on fully, just a glow until you hit the plug in, and then it started working again. This was just a few days ago and they have worked since. But now it's a whole new story. Thanks for your, and others if they join in, for your (alls) time.

Check your bulbs! I've had this happen to me before.
I put in higher wattage bulbs, and they melted the connectors.
(you can get new connectors from vatozone)

Hope this helps!

I'll do so, thanks to all. But would both go at once?

Need some help,Moved, but remedied?

I did it myself. I pulled both head light plugs and wiggled them so if anyone has a problem with one dim head light or if both go out and the bright switch glows all the time, or if the horn honks during this time when you tap on the steering wheel. Check the grounds on the connectores that plug into the lights themself. I hope this helps, but I'm sure there is more to come.

You Clown!!! ^^^

If not the switch then check the relay in the power distribution block under the hood. Your owners manual will tell you which one it is.

I'd inspect the connectors at the headlight and multifunction switches, be sure they haven't burned up or any individual pins aren't backed out of the connector shells.

Failing that, if it's rained recently in your area, I'd guess water entry in the GEM/CJB from a leaky windshield.

Glad you got it working! What was it? Were the connectors melted?

Of what I could see nothing was burnt. I don't know if the connectors are loose or what, it almost has to be that because I did not touch anything else and the major ground for those would not simply let you wiggle them and then their ok. I'll investigate further, it's just my time has been limited and I needed help from some brethern for a quick or total fix. Thanks all for you imput.
