Afraid to leave your truck parked???

If any of you are afraid to leave your truck parked somewhere, I feel your pain. Basically, i won't drive my truck anywhere and park it unless it's a quick stop or someone's house. This makes me even more skeptical.

I get a call at 5 oclock from my dad from the shop. I was off today. "Did you come and take the back plate off your car?"

"No, why" I say.

"Because it's gone and it was there this morning"

Now, mind you, my beater is parked right across from our garage door at the shop. It's been acting up and i'm getting alot of codes (OBDI sucks) and it all points to shorted wiring, so i'm contemplating junking it. Delta 88.

So I tell my old man to call the cops because someone had to have stolen the plate off the car.

Now the complex we are in, both us and the contractor behind us installed cameras this spring because we had a ton of issues and theft this winter.

So I take a ride down the shop and play back the tape. It's unreal!!!!

Some f'n guy just walks up the driveway, walks over to the car. Even bends down for about 10 seconds to assess the situation. Unscrews the license plate, and leaves on foot out of camera's view!!!! Right in the middle of the day. Usually someone is always outside, loading or recieving equipment or product too!!!

Gonna check with the contractor's camera's tomorrow and see if we can get him getting into a car or something because he headed toward his yard.

It's amazing how quick they could come steal your tonnea cover, or tailgate, or ever worse.

People suck. Now I have to go to the registry. I'd drather cut off my pinky finger then deal with them people!!!!`

I have the same concern, primarily because my L was broken into in the middle of the afternoon at a Home Depot parking lot. I always park away from everyone in a high traffic area but it didn't stop them. They did over $5000 in damage just for a kenwood stereo and a wallet full of CD's. Iv'e since have installed an alarm but I doubt it's going to slow anyone from breaking in again. Tell's you alot about people!

Exactly. I'd like to hang some people by their sack for doing stupid stuff like that...and the worst part of it is, it benefits NO ONE, not even the person doing it.

Yea I'm crazy about my Lightning. I don't take it to work. On the rare occasion I do take it to work I worry about it all day. I park way out in the back of parking lots away from people. Nevery park or drive it on an unpaved surface. When I take it grocery shopping I normally go early sunday 6/7am before the crowds (i.e. idiots and assholes) get there. Sometimes when I take a trip to a theme park or the like on a busy day on a weekend I have no choice but to park in the crowd.

What really made me bad about this was with my old 98 F150 I parked next to a guy with a brand new Dodge ram figuring that someone with a new vehicle would respect theirs and others vehicle... wrong! When I came out of the store, he had his rear door opened into my truck forcing a TV into the back because there wasn't enough room between the vehicles to open the door all the way! I couldn't believe it! He still had the dealer temp tags on it and he didn't care that he was possibly dinging and scratching both our paints! On a brand spanking new truck! Why couldn't he pull out and put it in there?

After that, I just don't fuck around anymore. I don't assume anymore that just because someone drives a nice, new, or expensive vehicle that they respect theirs and others property. I got a door ding way out in the back of Walmarts parking lot from a shopping cart... I flipped out and smashed it into the nearest vehicle! Fuck it, if people aren't going to respect my property, I'm not going to respect theirs! My motto is- misery likes company! Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I swear if I ever caught someone in the act of messing with my truck I swear to god I'd beat them to the death, or very near it!

That sucks dude! Where are you living now...did you ever move up to Ipswich? Funny, I just washed my truck a couple hours ago, and counted like five door dings. Thank God, I think they'll all buff out, but its the principal. It still makes me mad when I was my Mothers 94 GT...that is the true "old lady drove it to the grocery store" 12 year old, 30,000 original mile rag top 5.0.....that there are door dings all over it. And she is TEN TIMES more carefull than I could ever hope to be, with parking far away and cautious driving.

You are the problem. Just like the guy who dinged your truck you have ZERO respect for others or thier property. Even worse your act was deliberate the ding was likley accidental. When you have such poor impulse control dont be surprised when you fond more bad things happen to you or your stuff by others just like you.

I just had the joy of being in my truck in a parking space when someone pulled in beside me and his kid kicked (yes put his foot up and gave the door a boot) open the back drivers side door which slammed into my passenger side door. I think the guy got scared since it was such a hard hit and I was letting the language fly....good thing my windows were rolled up. I was so pissed, I was shaking. I did get the guys # so when the bill comes in he's going to pay for it.

Bottom line is that people that touch others vehicles should be beat. Or at least bitch slapped.

How about this:
I'm driving behind this lady and it's late into May. I see something coming at me from her tire it hits the front of the hood. I pull up behind her at a stop sign and she still has the studded winter tires on. I get home and look at it and there is a dent and a chip in my hood. Your supposed to have your studs off in May. It was like slow motion when that stud was coming at my truck.

Now I have another dent next to it. I think it was from The Ford dealer when I took it in for a oil change. It was there when I took it in but I didn't notice it until a few days later

Umm people.. it's a frickin' farm truck. It can handle driving down dirt roads, pulling a trailer, even god forbid... putting something in the bed.

I take care of my truck better than 99% of the people on here. oil changes, fuel filter changes, cleaning air filter, cleaning i/c, checking the plugs periodically, just general maintenance that most people don't care about.
But when it comes down to it, it's still a truck.

I don't drive it that often (last year just over 3000 miles) simply because it's unsafe in wet conditions and it rains alot up here in Michigan. I use the Jeep to tow and as a DD. So basically Saturday I drive the truck.
