If those numbers are right (and I have no reason to doubt you), that is a pretty mild cam. My cam in my 65 Mustang restomod is 512 lift, @50 230/230 duration. It has a carb instead of fuel injection and blower but I wouldnt think that would make a big difference on being able to handle a more aggresive cam. Seems like there should be alot more power available with a hotter cam!!! Hope somebody comes out with a hotter cam.

i talked to houston performance the other day and they are going to be doing a regrind of the stock cam, which would mean about the same lift but different characteristics. i'm no expert on cams but i do know that naturally aspirated cams are different from blower cams. now like alot of other things ford does i'm sure having the 99 gt cams on hand is cheaper than to engineer a totally new cam, but that doesn't mean that it is the best that this motor can do. i'm hoping that there is much room for improvement. just my 2 cents.

what you said Big Poppa! A cam just moves the power curve around. What you get on the top you give up on the bottom. These are long stroke turck motors. I like the power curve just fine. Maybe a fatter curve! but not a peaky higher curve. So boost and and intake are where I'm at. Forget the cam and the exhaust. Been down dem roads and don't want to go back.

Cool

This will give you an idea what the cams for the Lightning looks like. Pressed on lobes. I spoke with Steve yesterday evening but I did not give him any information about myself. I am sure that he would do a good job at the regrind but you do have to be careful and I see that he has offered good advise.

SteveD,

Thanks for the information, but do you know what the centerline of the cam is?

Dosen't FRPP offer camshaft blanks M-6250-A461?

The # that you cited M-6250-A461 where did you get it. No such listing for that number in the Ford Racing Performance Parts 2000 catalog or even in the new supplement. I know of no blanks for the mod motors.

You got me! I knew that someone would. When I ordered my heads the three right hand sides (yes there are right and left part #'s)came in but I had to wait until yesterday for the three lefts. I did not let that hold me up on the header development. Headers should be finished welded tomorrow. 1.75 primary tube with a 3 inch collector and a marmon clamp on the end. This is the finest clamp that you can use, it will not leak.

Babolt,

That # came from a '99 FRPP catalog. I don't know if they offer it or not. You know they put things in the catalog that never make it out to the street. You also know that FRPP offers alot of parts that aren't in the catalog! It might be worth it give them a call and see if those blanks exist or not. They had a list price of $400.00

I had Crower grind a custom blower cam for my dodge for $300. if we could agree on specs, a group buy would get the price down.

Looked at the old 1999 MotorSport catalog. They did a good job of hiding that item away on page 24. Thanks.
PS. There are none to be found, "0", zip, nada, SOL. One more item Crane cams does not have any mod motor cams and they don't want to build any either and if you talk to them they may even tell you why.
