Latest Console Mod...

I installed my Expy Console yesterday afternoon and have to say so far I'm in love with the look and the results, my hat's off to Vinny, Beefcake and many others on the forums who had some great photos & posts about installing theirs along with part numbers and details

I bought a Tan 02 console on E-Bay (well... actually 2 of them beacuse B-Man is doing his as well) and re-finished and assembled the first one along with a passenger seat from a 99 Expy and so far here is what I have...

I'm dropping off the old bench & the new seat pan this am on the way to the airport and it should be done by the time I get back from NJ/NY Thursday.

I'll post the completed result in this thread when its complete.

Seat pan and rail assembly and Console before install:

You said you bought an expedition passenger seat ?
Is that what you will use on the passenger side?
Does the lightning seat cover fit over it ?
Do you need any special brackets?
ANy other tips on the passenger seat / mod would be appreciated.
Thank you

It's not a hard installation at all, and it is a cool mod for these trucks it makes it feel more like a sports car inside then a truck. Just get a friend to help and go for it.

I just got my seat back from the upolstery shop and installed the 02 Expy console. I installed Black carpet also. Major difference with the black carpet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It took me about 3 1/2 hours to do the complete job (by myself) : Removing the old carpet, tapping the holes for the passanger seat and console, installing the new black carpet, cutting all the holes in it, and then reinstalling all the interior, seats, and console.

Looks incredible and just feels right now, Ford should have sold the truck like this from the factory.

Got one problem - How have you guys put in the passanger seat belt????? I cant figure out what to do to mount it????????

I altered the plastic sleeve and then put the belt tab through the rear seat bolt.(under the frame)

Thats what I thought, but it didnt look right. WHat do you mean by "alter the plastic sleeve"? Do I use the seat bolt, or the one that is in the seat belt already? Put the seat belt tab between the carpet and the seat bracket?

Thanks a ton dude!!!!!

If you get a seat out of an Expedition, it will include the seat belt receiver piece.

The rail is a little different than the one in your Lightning in that the seat belt attaches to the rail instead of bolting to the floor...

I'm basically done with the mod, except the seat belt. I bought the expedition seat belt, but their is nowhere to bolt it in. I'll take a look at it again tonite. Do you think it would be o.k. to drill a hole in the seat bracket and just bolt the seat belt to it?
