Where does our society base it's foundations on?
Freedom? Pursuit of happiness? Religion? the right to choose?

Just think back to where you got your morals from?
your parents? your environment growing up? School? Friends? Church?

And what dictated those morals of your parents, environment? school? friends? church?

trace it back far enough, everything has a common thread! Think back before America was "rediscovered".

Are we a society that operates based on a particular religion? Islam? Buddhism? Hinduism? Christianity? Actually the answer is yes! Our consitution is based off English Common law. And what is English Common law based off of?

Are we based on the constitution? What is the basis of the constitution? Why did the founding fathers flee to "the new land"? Wasn't it to seek religious freedom? To practice whatever they wanted? Weren't the first colonies divided by religion? Recall the Quakers up in Pennsylvania?

Everything in human culture stems from some type of belief or theory! Even disbelief. Whether you want to hear it, or accept it or not is entirely your opinion. But Human Society is based upon religion. To think other wise is foolish.

Ever wonder how many people on Earth believe in a type of religion?

one study shows:
Baha’I (7 million adherents)
Buddhism (360 million)
Christianity (2 billion)
Confucianism (6 million)
Hinduism (900 million)
Islam (1.3 billion)
Jainism (4 million)
Judaism (14 million)
Shinto (4 million)
Sikhism (23 million)
Daoism (2.7 million)
Zoroastrianism (150,000)

Another study shows:
Christianity: 2.1 billion
Islam: 1.3 billion
Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist: 1.1 billion
Hinduism: 900 million
Chinese traditional religion: 394 million
Buddhism: 376 million
primal-indigenous: 300 million
African Traditional & Diasporic: 100 million
Sikhism: 23 million
Juche: 19 million
Spiritism: 15 million
Judaism: 14 million
Baha'i: 7 million
Jainism: 4.2 million
Shinto: 4 million
Cao Dai: 4 million
Zoroastrianism: 2.6 million
Tenrikyo: 2 million
Neo-Paganism: 1 million
Unitarian-Universalism: 800 thousand
Rastafarianism: 600 thousand
Scientology: 500 thousand

I don't feel like doing the math, but there are currently about 6,627,665,535 people on earth. A VAST MAJORITY 3.4Billion of those people believe in either Christianity or Islam, throw hinduism in there anr you're over 4.3 billion.

Ever been in a situation where someone in the room just doesn't get it, but everyone else in the room does?

Now I'm not advocating one way or another. When I was younger I was 100% agnostic! I believed in something, but I couldn't narrow it down. Even though I was raised Roman Catholic. I don't particularly appreciate others forcing their beliefs on me, however, I listen to what they have to say and cut them off when they cross the line. Who am I to say that they are incorrect and I'm correct?

If you think about it for a minute, what makes life? Electrical pulses? a special combination of elements that formed DNA, then we evolved from there? I find it simply amazing that after thousands and thousands of years, humans still cannot answer the simplest, basic questions.
what is life?

I'm simply asking questions, you can answer them as you see fit, but do not attack me for making you open your mind and think about this topic logically.

It makes me laugh to think people would spend money to see another person naked. Period. It is too free to do it else where. I would rather go to a dance club and hold a female next to me, feeling, smelling, and holding her close for a short time, rubbing you're chubby against her, Instead of waisting your money on a look. Hell, get a look from a good jack book if you are going to do that.

What does this have to do with Lightnings anyway?

I have been thinking about this topic logically for over 30 years.

The problem is that the ultimate question defies logic. There is no logical argument for the existence of a supreme being -- they all fail.

Example:

Believers try to argue that this all just could not have happened without divine intervention, which is a facially appealing argument. But it is flawed.

"How did this all get here?"
"God made it."
"Who made God?"
"God was just here. He is the Alpha and the Omega."
"So it's somehow easier for me to believe that God 'just is' but not that the matter in the universe 'just is'?"
[silence]

No one can either prove or disprove the existence of a god. It comes down to belief.

Which is why it is a complete waste of time to argue.

BTW, you are looking at the relationship between laws and religion backwards. Religions are social codes, social codes do not come from religions. Before there were governments, there were religions. And the rules of those religions were the only rules.

Kosher food preparation, the prohibition of marriage outside of wedlock, Hindu prohibition of killing cows, Muslim bhurkas, etc. all come from the advancement of social goals that existed at the time that the rules were made. Different areas of the world have different social needs. And the rules of the predominant religions in those areas (as they existed when the rules were made) reflect the particular needs of those areas.

Which is why I am not anti-religion, only anti-preaching. At their core, religions just try to make people better, and better citizens. Nothing wrong with that.

Do you really think the core belief in Islam is terror? If so, please educate yourself.

Islam and Christianity have very close core beliefs!

As a wise man once said, "I think everyone here can agree on that."
