Sub 11.50 guys, have a question.

I know there are a good amount of you guys running 11.5 or better at lower elevation.

I ran 11.55 up here with a D/A of approx 8000 feet.
I was real pleased until the tech guy comes on over stating that someone had complained that I was not legal.
Now the truck is legal to 11.50. I was through for the night anyway but he goes on to say that in the day time i would have been faster than 11.50 and would require the following.

Cage, Fire Jacket, Full 5 point harness.

Again i know thats the rules, but how are you guys getting away with 11.50s without cages etc.?

Any input?

I wouldn't worry about it. 11.50 is legal at the track I use, get faster than that, then you need all of the stated safety gear!!
Nice time's for that elevation!!!

A fire jacket is required for you at any speed this year if they follow the new NHRA rule book on non-oem power adders (your Whipple).

From: ....I could be anywhere....
i assume your bracket racing...

the 2006 N.H.R.A. rulebook states "roll cage mandatory in any car or truck running 10.99 (*6.99) or quicker or any viehicle exceeding 135 mph.

in full bodied cars with unaltered floor and body (from firewall rearward, wheeltubs permitted) running between 10.00 (*6.40) and 10.99 (*6.99) roll bar permitted in place of roll cage.
in convertables running 10.99 or quicker or exceeding 135 mph roll cage mandatory....

*=1/8 mile tracks...

some tracks have their own rules..

like at a track "near here"
you need a diaper and some other crap to run
just because...

Some ***** really complained that you were not legal>??? What a loser.
I ran a 10.40 and a 10.36 in my truck with no bar and the track didn't say a word to me.
I have been told to slow down for 10.80's before though.
A bar doesn't belong in a street vehicle in my opinion and was the biggest mistake on made on my truck, the main reason for selling.
If you want to be "legal" you don't have a choice but to play by the rules, that is that. -Mat-

It comes down to how much a particular track will let it slide. Some tracks are sticklers and some are'nt.

This is something I'll now have to be facing too. I'm not going with a race configured truck but I'd really like to see what it will do come Fall.

Maybe I'll only have "one shot" to see?
