Post Big Mouth PowerStack Autophysics

I received my filter yesterday from the group purchase done by FordSales. I love the filter. But this is real strange. It is actually a Power Plus filter made by S&B Filters in Ontario, CA (just down the road from the K&N plant. It was shipped to me from Autophysics in Las Vegas (I thought they were in Hawaii). I ordered the 9"x3.5". It measured 10" and just clears the side walls of the Airaid box. The box is clearly marked R-35-0009-BM. It has a million mile warranty according to the box, and looks exactly like a K&N. I take it some of the other guys got theirs too? Their phone number is 909-947-0015 if anyone wants to try to contact them direct.

A "significent increase in power" from a filter. Dream on! The imagination is a wonderful thing. Give my a dyno run.

I loved to hear that you are happy with the filter.

When I started the group buy, it was only an educated guess that the AutoPhysic Big Mouth filter would be any good. So, I was sweating it since I was the one that started the thing. Now I feel a little relieved.

Going to put mine in today

skydive69, I own a dynoshop. I also have the same air filter. I can feel the difference.

You can't/don't prove every mod with a dyno. By the same token, some of us have been driving and racing for 20, 30, 40 years and my SeatOfThePants Dyno works just fine. So don't get all high and mighty about needing to dyno everything, even though I make more money that way.

I know, I know. I have been around racing, and have raced since the mid 50's. It is easy to think a little noise, or something a little different means more power - sometimes it is less - like the the guys that run straight pipes on their Harleys thinking that the extra noise equates to extra power. Seat of the pants is BS - I say again show me the dyno slip. This equates to the audio world. Some duys spend thousands on speaker cables and interconnects and rave about their wonderfully expanded sound stage, and new clarity of the music. If you submit most of these people to a double blind test, they are just as apt to pick the audio system hooked up with zip cord. BTW, I am not flaming anyone, I just took exception to the word "substantial" to describe the increase in power with the change of a filter. Does it help? Hell yes, or I would not have spent a couple of hundred hard earned ones on my Airaid. Yes, and these are certainly dream machines. I am going on a year of the most driving machine fun I have ever had, and I have owned more performance cars than I can remember (especially at my advanced [read semi senile] age).

Skydive69 - When I put the Airaid box in with the K & N the truck rev'ed higher without a restricted feeling. The boost gauge went from registering at 8 max to 10. But the actual accelleration pull did not seem any different than stock. Then I put on a Superchip. This wakes up the truck and improves the shifts, but I'm still left thinking there's more power in there when I mash the pedal. I put in the new open ended filter, and there's a whole other restriction removed. For 55 bucks
it was a good move for me. If I could have it my way, I would have bought Sal's filter kit in the first place for 135, instead of 260 for what ended up to be virtually the same thing, although I do like Airaid box, and I know it keeps a lot of dust off the filter from the engine compartment. I clean the engine compartment every week and the inside of the Airaid box is alway clean and dust free.

Skydive69- I'm really going to make you mad. The big mouth filter made more of a difference from the k&n than the Airaid did from the stock airbox! I can't believe how much fun I am having with this truck. I still can't believe it's a truck.

Hey, those guys were supposed to work on my truck for a nice box setup (prototype), but our schedules never matched. Ohwell, glad to hear they make an alright filter. Yeah, they have a guy in Vegas, and they say they are not f&n filters.
