I just thought of something. The filter that I received was RED and my L is black.

Maybe it wasn't the filter but the COLOR????

Crush69 & RedlsFaster, there is a dyno at Colvin auto. on Han**** rd. in Austin. I think it $45 1st pull then $ 25 every other pull. Ph.# 512-452-4236 call to check for sure. I did not think there were any dyno-jets in Cedar Park. RedlsFaster, do you have your truck with you? I know a few people in C.P. and I also deliver (u.p.s.) there and havent heard of or seen a red one yet. Both of you email me maby we could hook up.

I really live in San Marcos, but I'm building a new home in CedarPark. I have my LS1 here, the wife (works for the Feds) has the L in (driven there and back twice this year got a few kills along the way) DC. She wants a SUV or BMW and I'm thinking it may be a good time to get my L back. She hates the Camaro, never drives it even though I purchase it for her. One of the guys I work with has a white L, he does not surf but I'm trying to get him to go with at least a chip.

I've been to the race track (75 minutes)between Huston and CedarPark, is there any closer to Cedar park? I know Kyle has only a circle track (30 minutes).

I'm looking at early Fall to put some serious 1/4 mile times in. I want to do 12's with the cool temps and good launch. I don't want to go too deep into mods. I figure if I can borrow somebodys DR for a few runs, turn in a single 12 second ET, I'm done and I can start work on Project Mustang. I've toyed with the idea of installing the L motor into a 1971 (large engine bay) Mach 1.

Fordsales- I ordered the 9" in black, I got a 10". The rubber boot is red, but the plastic on both ends is black. The one in the pictures above has red plastic. The box has the size shown as 9??

AutoPhysics gave the "group buy" a fantastic deal on the Big Mouth filter.

I called the manufacturer, S&B, and was told the wholesale price for the 3 1/2x10 Big Mouth filter is $65+ and was told to call one of their retailers to purchase the filter.

I call C&C, out of Ontario, CA, and was told the purchase price for the 3x10 is $84.87 plus tax, delivered at their store.

We got the 3x10 for $58.00, no tax, no shipping. Fantastic!!!

Let's support the company that gave us a great price.

If we ever need another filter, call:

Well you smooth talkers convinced me, which is not terribly difficult when it comes to buying new toys for my rides. The problem is, that Daryl has discontinued the $58 buy. The deal now is MSRP of $77, and Daryl will ship at no cost, and include a filter oiling kit. I had to pass at that amount, but will be interested if another group buy is ever formed - assuming Daryl will offer the $58 price. Oh well, he who hesitates is lost. I'll have to suffer with my turbulent producing K&N.

That is still a great buy. No taxes, no shipping fee, including an oil kit.

If I went to the factory and purchased at wholesale ($69.00) and paid taxes my cost would be around $75.00 without the oil kit.

BUT I wouldn't be able to purchase at wholesale because I am not one of their re-sellers. It would cost me about $85 plus tax, or shipping if you live out of state and once again, without the oil kit.

Hi Jim:

I already have two K&N oil kits, and although the few extra bucks means nothing to me, one must occasionally give pause for value. In that I have already spent quite a bit on the Airaid setup, I feel stupid dropping that much more. The physics of the airflow situation makes sense however, and that attracts me to the filter. Again, it is hard to imagine that my L will run any stronger than it does now by the simple change to another high performance filter, but I am tempted so easily by anything new. I guess I was a bit amazed that he would not budge off the price. I told him that he was getting good press from this group, but he kept insisting that my deal would be with the kit that I did not need. I think if he would have even budged slightly under the conditions, I would have gone for it. Well, if any of you boys are ever passing through Orlando in your L, let's run. My beast his currently undeated on the street - I am considering painting "kill" symbols on the side.

I understand.

Originally there was a misunderstanding between us and Autophysics and because of it they waived the $5.00 shipping fee. From what the factory told me regarding the wholesale price, I am guessing that Autophysics probably lost money with us and now maybe they are trying to get back to even.

Hello all..

All this talk about filters has been quite interesting but I have to wonder just how much of it really matters..

I know the power stack filters look cool.. and I am sure the extra opening in the end will help.. but I would be SERIOUSLY surprised if it equated to any types of power gaines over a similar sized K&N..

People talk of turbulence and things like that.. and I know they come into play.. but I feel that as long as you have a large enough filter to support the motor ( ie. no 3" rice boy filter on the L ) all will be ok..

Just a side note.. The turbo on my old Grand National used to pull so hard that it would colapse the ducting to the inlet.. When I switched to a solid aluminum pipe.. it strarted to colapse the filter ( 10" filter ).. I think our L's are a long way from that kind of air flow..
