removing the center caps

I recently got a flat on one my lightning wheels. It's the 01-02 style wheel and I am having trouble removing the center cap. I see how it works- you put the cap on and it snaps into place, but I do not know how to release. I am afraid of using too much force and snapping one of the arms that hold it into place, since it is only plastic. Does the wire aid in removing the cap?

If anybody could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

From: Colorado,
Safest to have the wheel off the truck and then you can push in the tabs from the back and not over do it.

Flat tires really suck...........

I agree, those things crack easy IMO. I want to say the one I replaced on my 99 wheels was like $30 buck or so....... I think.

take a hammer and hold the head and use the bottom of the handle and tap the back side of the center cap and it will pop right out...
