Multiple Phantom Error Codes, and now P0108

Hello everyone,

The "Service Engine Soon" light popped up on my dash this past weekend, so I hooked up the Predator to view the codes and it said something like "No codes found." Weird. So I selected "Clear Error Codes" and the light on the dash went off. No worries.

Later on that day on another trip, the "Service Engine Soon" light came on again. Same thing: no error recognized by the Predator (which has identified other errors for me in the past), but it reset the light just fine. Light came on one more time, so this time I shut the truck down to see if the Predator could read the code while it was off. Nope. Turned it on, no such luck. Cleared the phantom code again and went on my way (note, my truck was running fine and preliminary visual scan under the hood yielded no obvious cultprits). Starting to get worried at this point.

Fast forward to today, drove the truck, got the "Service Engine Soon" light, plugged in the Predator and lo and behold there is a God:

P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure BARO sensor high input
P1000 OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete

I checked the archives and posts point to the $200 barometric sensor and even bad ECM's. I'm assuming the 2nd error will probably go away once the first one is addressed. Can anyone recommend some easy checks or diagnostics I can perform at home before I v0!d my warranty at the dealership? Has anyone heard of these baro sensors failing? I have around 27,000 miles now.

OK, so I guess they do go bad. I can fork out $200 for a new baro sensor, but can they be cleaned like the IAC? What causes them to fail so soon? Excessive boost pressure under the hood? LOL

Hey, I spent a lot of time and energy making this sig. It's a real masterpiece. I looked around at other people's sigs for inspiration, then combined all of my favorite features into one single composition for maximum impact.

Got one from Steve for $75.53. Replaced it over the weekend. Didn't want to post prematurely until I was sure the problem has been solved, but it's been a few days now and no error codes. The old barometric sensor looked fine visually but I guess something went wrong with it after 28,000 miles. Thanks for all the help and tips!
