Unhappy "Law dawg" takes a bite outta the Hitman

Well guys it looks as though I will NOT be going to Carlisle this weekend. On my way to work I had a couple of kids in a Blazer tailgating me all through traffic, now traffic was heavy but not heavy enough for them to right on my a$$! They were so close I couldn't see the hood of their truck in my rear view mirror! Finally I caught a break and saw a chance to get the hell away from these two idiots, and put the hammer down and jumped out of the traffic...Bad move. Turns out I was at the first line of a vascar trap, I saw the cop a bit too late. 75.4 mph in a 45...$173 ticket and 5 POINTS!!! I am seriously frucked.
The $200 I had alotted myself for the weekend at Carlisle is gone, but the points are what's upsetting me.I thought of fighting it or at least bargining down but it's in a notoriously stingy township, and I was advised by some friends in law enforcement to "not even bother".Bummer, looks like I'll be going to the track to do all my speedin' and racin' for a looooooong time.

I feel your pain and that will temper my fight or flight.

I've been very luck, but sooner or later if you do the crime, you got to pay the fine.
Man you weren't even racing somebody !!
So sorry, BUT thanks for your post.

I hate being popped by the man! But if its points your worried about, I think theres a way to get out of it.
If possible, pay by check. If the ticket is $173, send them $176. That will cause them to send you a refund check for the 3 dollars. Now at least in Illinois, i know that no points are accrued until all fincancial transactions are complete. So when the refund check comes, throw it away!
Even if it doesnt apply in CA, its worth a shot!

Good Luck!

I've received a few tickets and never heard of this "points" system. Also a guy I work with has gotten two tickets in the last 3 weeks and he doesn't know anything about points. Would someone be so kind...?

Fight it.My sister had a T/A tail her while she was driving my L.She floored it to try and keep the guy from tailing her(she is really **** about people being near my truck). She got pulled over doing 75+.She explained to the cop and decided to fight it in the little district court room. She won and the fine was reduced to not doing more than 60 in a 55,and no points at all.Fight it Hitman!you wont be sorry.

BUMMER, but if my memory serves me right, (70's thing), if you join AAA they have a 3 point reduction class. You can only take it once a year, I think. Hope this helps.

all4chem,
How old are you? I believe that almost every state has a points system. Usually minor speeding ticket count 3 points against your record. In WV your license is suspended if you acquire 12 points in a three year period. After 3 years from the date of a specific violation the ticket, and points, are dropped from your record. You better check with your state DMV before you get any more tickets. Also, usually when you get a ticket in another state that state's DMV will notify your state's DMV and the points will catch up to you.

I got popped over the mem. day weekend. SUCKY ticket, 79 in a 65. Damn Ohio state trooper walked out into the middle of the highway holding a laser gun, he had his cruiser hid off the side of the road. He didn't even have to chase me down. What a bunch of BS, and to top it off I wasn't in the lightning, but the 4.2 V6 daily driver.

First damn ticket in 7 years and it's for a lousy 14 over. Quick 2 points here in ohio. The really crappy part is we have a progressive point system after the first ticket. Now for the next year any ticket I get on the highway is a point per 5 miles an hour, aka 30 over is 6 fugn points. The first one in a year is ALWAYS 2 points, and I wasted it on a little 14 over...

Sucks to be me..

Sorry about your luck hitman, the cops have a conspiracy to end our lightning fun, trust no1, deny everything.

Hitman,

If your worried about the points, try the system that A Train explained. I just read in a newletter that it works in all 50 states. I planned on giving it a try if I was ever in the same situation.

Hitman, sorry to hear about your ticket but another thing that I have done is to plead "no contest" and "deferred adjudication". This simply means that if you do not get a ticket for (30-60)days up to the judge then the ticket is dismissed. You still pay the fine and court costs, this is acceptable in Texas at least. There is also a service that might be able to help you in the future as well it is called Pre-Paid Legal. You pay a monthly fee usually about 20-25 dollars and its like having an attorney on call sort of insurance for tickets. When you get a ticket you call them up and they handle everything for you and get the tickets off your record. Anyway hope that helps a little.

Unhappy

Don`t feel so bad..I just recieved notice my driving privileges are pending suspension due to my having collected 13 points in two years from speeding tickets. The last ticket I got was 90 in a 55 I just booted it past a line of cars on a two lane and a white dogde truck hits the lights..A conservation officer..claimed to have paced me...I paid ..don`t like courts or judges especially.Any how I was surprised about the notice..now I have to request a pre-suspension hearing and hope I can talk a state trooper into a break...two of the points came off June 2..two weeks after I paid up...

I'm sorry to hear about that, Hitman- good luck fighting it.
Now, I'm gonna ask for your guys' help too: I live in CA, and got a ticket about 2 months ago for doing 70 in a 35 (it was 1am, and the traffic was all going 60). I just got my license, so if I get points, my insurance will go even higher. I don't want to pay a fine, but I don't really mind. Everyone around here tells me to postpone the court date (june 22nd- the cop wrote it on the ticket way back in April) for as long as possible (but I actually have to do this anyway- I won't be in town for the court date), and hopefully get the cop to lose interest, and if he doesn't show up, the ticket is dropped. I'm curious about what "2KSVT150GP" said- I would like to show the judge that I don't get tickets- for instance, I haven't gotten a ticket since this one. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
