Man did I ever stir up a hornets nest!
Everyone, thanx for the support and the ideas,I will fight the ticket but I don't expect a lighter sentence. The area I got tagged in is noted(read HIGHLY noted) for it's strict enforcement of "THE LAW."
I will most deffinately look into the AAA thing(if you have any other info on this it's GREATLY appreciated). It's the points that bother me,not the fine so much.In PA it's 11 points and then suspension, but they start taking "action" at 6 pts. So one more of anything and I'm in deep shiznit.
2KSVT,
If you have anymore insight into that "pre-paid legal" I'd love to hear about it. It may come in handy in the future
I need a way to buck the system on this one, driving in these babies is torture when you have to obey silly things like speed limits! Easy all you "do gooders",that was a j/k...Or maybe it wasn't???
Again thanx for the support !!!

Hitman

P.S.---My new them song is "I can't drive 55" by Sammy Hagar! By the way, anybody now how to get a hold of him? He is notorious for his losing his license, and if he got out of it so can we!

Illinois does not use points. 3 tickets within a year from the date of the first issued, 1 year loss of licence.

Geez and I thought I got nailed with all these points and had it rough. I am currently behaving. *Trying* Even though I got pulled over 3 times while I was in Kansas on my way to WFC. hehe I figure, any other state where I don't get arrested for doubling the limit and I will just drive AROUND it until the statute of limitations runs out. HAHAHA In IL I would have a pretty Lightning to look at and a bicycle...so things could be worse. Hit, are they going to plea bargain with you? Here when you try and fight these tickets, if you lose they give you all the points, all the court costs and blah blah blah. The only reason I was going to fight that 12 points was because anything over 2 points and I was SOL. Have you set up an appointment with the DA to discuss the options?

Ando,

I bought a book called Beat The Cops. It has a lot of advice on how to beat a speeding ticket. The first main point is - When they ask if you know how fast you were going, answer "no". If you tell them how fast, you have basically pled guilty. You can order the book at 1-800-322-6946.

I spent 8 years as a cop and if you want a chance to beat. Depents on how mush you want to beat it. If it was a radar tic. get a atty. that can check for the last time the gun was cert. and how it was done. Most Dept. don't have time or money to do it right. But this will cost you alot. Some times you can go to class and get your ticket taken off. But thats up to the Judge. Or the other two ways post above. With me I'd have to do the first one because I'm a truck driver now and need my income.

Hitman...

In Houston and Dallas there are attorneys that will fight the ticket for you. As I understand it, they set a court date, show up and ask for a continuance... they keep doing similar until the cop gets bored/lazy and misses a court date. Then the ticket gets dismissed! Supposedly the attorney fees are only the cost of the fine, or close to it. This IS a rumour I heard tho... haven't tried it!

I don't know if this is the same "pre-paid legal," but the company I work for had a large contract with them (all of our clients used them). The only thing I will say is we no longer use them and things have been running much more smoothly.

i feel for you hit. my theme has been that song since i turned 18. it was given to me for a bday present from some friends who found it appropriate. now i'm 33 and still running hard. got my 3rd speeding tik. about a month ago in a town much like the one you are going to court in. they usually worry more about the money then the points. but i still have enough to have recieved a letter from the state informing me that i'm close to losing my privelege to drive again.
had to sell my zx6r because of the cost of ins. not that i couldn't afford it, it just didn't seem worth it when up here i can only drive 6 mo. out of the year.
good luck with your fight. i might have to check out that aaa thing.

I wrote this on an earlier thread, but it still pertains:

'Do what ever you can to keep it away from your insurance company. My last ticket (40 MPH in a 25 zone last May, the week BEFORE I got my Lightning) cost me a $110 fine, but my insurance went up ~$400/year for two years! Ouch!'

Cool

I think the point of getting the barrister is not so much to beat those high profit parasites otta their scam as to bargain a deal with no/lower points so the insurance scam artists don't get theirs. This is a lucrative give and take for the taxman and is most likely to happen when you gainfully employ a mouthpiece. As with the majority of tickets I've ever gotten the fines were no big deal and I would pay them all day long if the points/ticket were kept off my record.

Just a quick word to the wise. If tickets were easy to beat, municipalities would stop wasting their time with them. The fact is they generate a huge amount of money. Any attorney or company who tells you that for a fee they can "beat a ticket" are not being completely honest with you. As far as radar gun certification goes, in California they do need to be certified each year. However, the process is very easy to do and I don't know of a department that does not comply with the requirements. Putting all the rhetoric aside, 75 in a 45 zone is a hard one to beat, good luck.
