Front lisc. plate
Congrats on a great board. I love my red '99 and so do others. Yesterday our towns pickest cycle-cop finally noticed me and said mount it ASAP or else! Sure hate to put a white plate on the red bumper. Ideas? How about mounting on lower grilling? Thanks in advance. Bill -- PS I had a 928S in the late 80's. Great car, but I'll take the lightning anyday. Congrats to Ford.
Okay, this is just an Idea i got from a fiend who does this.
put a small square of velcro along the edge of the window on tghe passenger side, about a postage stamp sized square will do.
put a matching piece on the plate, and tuck the plate under the seat, see a cop, slap on the plate.
If you get pulled over, slap it up there real quick, and he'll just assume he may have missed it. Silly?, wekll yes, but I know it works, I've ben in the car when the cop said "Oh, I didn't see it up there, I was looking on the bumper". The velcro gives it that "permanent" look nad I think the Ricers spot you about 10 HP for creative use of velcro in a "performance modification"
Just as thought, the guy with the drill got to mine before i could stop him so it's not a problem with mine...

I have also seen this at a car show and think I will do it as well. Go to your local sign company one that makes magnetic sign and have your license plate duplicated in exact size as a magnetic. The last time I got a price for doing this was about 25 dollars. It is easy to do because they do it all with the computer. It will stay in place and then peel right off if you go into a store or mall, etc.
Damn DPS Trooper pulled me over for no front tag about 150 yards away from my driveway last week (In a small town of less than 7K people..Can you say boredom?).
He was being really nosey and asking all kinds of dumb questions.."Where do you live?" "You saw me pull out of a driveway about 3 houses down...my license says Navasota...we're in Navasota..think about that one for a minute." I think all he really wanted to do was check out my truck because after about 5 minutes of busting my ball$, he spit out "So how does it run?" I should have said "Lets just say that I did you a favor by pulling over," but I let it slide and just gave him the "Oh..it runs fine..no engine problems yet" as if I didn't have the slghtest clue what he was talking about.
Anyway, back to the topic. I think that for the most part cops won't give tickets for this. It is just an excuse for them to pull you over and check you out for possible DWIs and stuff like that. This DPS guy was the first one to give me trouble, and I see about 5 cops a day in a town where they are known for being picky. I wouldn't sweat it, just throw it on the dash or even on the floorboard and say that it slid off and you didn't want to risk picking it up.

Suction cups! I got a couple of suction cups from my local "Bed, Bath, & Beyond" store. They were made with the attatched hook dealies so you could hang stuff off the tile in the bathroom/shower.
Anyway, I took off the hooks and wrangled the mounting ends through the top holes of the license plate. Now my plate sits attatched to the inside of the windshield, lower passenger side corner. The suction cups angle the plate so you can see it out the front, and prevent the plate from rattling around.
