How much are engines for L's
Before you spend the money, do you know that the 5.4 is about an inch wider than your engine bay? A 5.4 swap would involve moving the shock towers, lowering the crossmember (and the tranny, rest of the drivetrain, etc...), replacing the hood wiht a cowl induction type hood (for clearence), and I've not even brought up that you need a 4R100 transmission which would mean cutting out the floor replacing the driveshaft, yada yada yada...hell, you'll lose about 2 inches of space on BOTH sides of the tranny in your front floor. It can be done, but it's hardly what I would call "dropping one in a '00 GT frame"

If you want a Lightning motor I will put one on your doorstep complete with shipping for the $4500.00 that was listed here. Will it fit in a 2000 Mustang? Yes, it will. Just look at the July issue of Motor Trend. I have seen them in there. Don't worry about the E4OD just don't use it. Who in there right mind wants an auto trans in a sports car, just back that motor up with a T56 (six speed to most of you). Now if you want a really cool Lightning motor, one that has been blue printed, balanced, ported and polished, nitrided crank, billet rods, etc. etc. I could put one of those on your doorstep for just over $10,000.00. I will even guarantee over 400HP at the rear wheels

Gulp, sounds like a fun ride! I for one own a supercharged street driven V8 car and have been in many others. I really like the auto. You don't get "strange" power spike as you shift with the auto. The 5.0 superchargers were always down on low end torque so they could use the gears on a 5 speed manual. But you are looking at 450 to 525 ft/lbs of torque all of it down low. This just makes for an auto IMO.
IMO forget the MACHO image and stick to the auto as it WILL make for a better ride. Plus the auto is not going to have clutch and rear end problems (well not as many). The T-56 is not rated too high on torque and the stock internal slave on the T-56 is a major problem. You would need the Viper T-56 to really take the abuse and you would need a twin disk clutch to handle the torque IMO. All in All you'de be looking at $4000+ for a working T56 setup. Just my .02 worth.

Aluminum Tunnel work not too bad, there are kits out for the tunnel, check drag racing mags for vendors.
Plus if you get the wire harness and brain you can use an off the shelf L program instead of looking for custom programs for the 6 speed.

If there is more than one of you out there, I too will sell my '99 crate motor (still on the original pallet with plastic covering) for $4500 delivered continental USA. Probably came from the same place as BA Bolt's.

I got the new mag with the 5.4 L in the Cobra, After reading it I really think the 6 speed is a BAD match for the L. Even the mag agrees. I'll post the paragraph when I can sneak it into work. Looks like the auto is the only GOOD way to make a 5.4 L into a Cobra or GT.
Bill, does the crate motor come with everything? exhaust manifolds, blower, TB?

RedIsFaster:
The motor is not complete, but about 99% there (they all come this way). It is missing the computer itself, some of the front pulleys and all of the accessory stuff like P/S pump, A/C compressor and so on.
It does have pretty much the complete intake, complete exhaust and flywheel, coil on plugs setups, oil and filter etc.
Other items to complete include belts, air filter, alternator, well anyway, a pretty typical almost ready to run crate motor.
A good deal of the parts you would find off a late model F150 at a wrecking yard. It does have the complete supercharger by the way, and I believe that is worth around $2800 by itself. Manufacture date was November 1999, and it is brand, brand new.
f150online members purchased at least four of them in the same week last year, so take your pick where you wish to buy one from. I'm in no hurry to sell mine, but the project I purchased it for fell through, so I will sell it whenever someone wants it.
Any other questions, e-mail me at MOSTOYSINC@AOL.com or call me Tues/Sat at 770-426-8800.
