I have not yet done the thermostat.I did however just get back from the track.I am extemely disapointed.Stock i ran 13.9@98
With the superchip,I ran 13.7@100 mph. This is nothing like the chip for the 99s.Now i dont know what is worse,Running 13.2 some of the time with major problems or 13.7 with no problems........I am plain out mad.I expected to at least run 13.5 and I would have been happy. There was a 99 lightning running 13.5 with a superchip burning half way up the track!.My truck cant even spin the tires off the line !!!! Im sending it back to mike troyer and Im going to go with somebody else's chip.I need info on Swanson chip.HELP??!!.

Ray,
My 99 wouldn't spin the tires until it had about 4000 plus miles on it. That engine developed a full time knock at 7200 miles. The replacement would spin the tires right out of the crate. The point is these engines are all a little different. I understand you want more than 2 tenths from you chip, but you might want to get some more miles on it. You also might not get 13.2 from this truck no matter what chip you put in it. You had one of the fastest 99s with chip & filter. You might not be that lucky twice.

Cool

I was looking at a '00 L'
engine that is partially taken apart and it had come with a 180 deg. thermostat stock. I suspect that will be true of '99?

Thanks Lightning kid.I am going to go with a 160 degree with some watter wetter. My best run last night was a 13.63@101.To get this time i filled my intercooler with ice to bring down the temp.Iced the whole intake and ran without a air filter. The way I see it.If I stuck with the superchip and put on a intake,I would get the same.13.63@101 I just made some big desicions today.Ill let you all know how it works out next week.

next week I will be running 13.3s@103 consistant with the following mods.

Downs air intake
XXX---chip
160 thermostat
2 inch shackles.

If Im not,I will take the mods out and trade it in for a silver one at my local dealership.they have 2 of them right now.
