Angry Installed A 9" Pulley + 6lbs Of Boost

I 'm A Newbie To F150 Online.

I Installed A Asp 9" Pulley 2 Days Ago Which Is Supose To Give Me An Extra 6 Lbs Of Boost( 18hp,50ftlbs) And Tuned The Computer Using The Predator Using Their Pulley Tune And The Truck Ran Like *****. I Think It Was Detonating. It Made This Weird Sound And Felt Like It Wasnt Moving .i Have A 04 Lightning, Ngk Tr6 Plugs, Airraid Intake, 160 Degree Thermostat, Diablo Predator Tune. Anyway I Took The Pulley Off And Put The Stock One Back On And The Performance Tune Back On The Truck And Now It Runs Fine

Put the big pulley back on, take the Predator and your truck to a good tuner, get it tuned on the dyno and enjoy !!

Plenty of people have posted here about how bad the pulley tunes are that are included with the Predator...

If I am not mistaken, the Predator pulley tunes are for 4lb pullies anyway...

And lots of folks have posted in here how crappy the Predator pulley tunes are, as well as him saying how terrible the truck was running...

Take it to a tuner and get it done right. It really is that simple...

As everyone just said a 6lb pulley is a proving Mod that will make the difference of night and day. As everyone also said Predator factory stock tunes suck monkey a$$. Thats your problem, not the pulley

GOOD LUCK....

I am thinking about putting a larger crank pulley on my L as well, but if you only get 18hp why bother?

BOOST BABY, THATS WHY

Bro I can be driving along at almost ANY SPEED and just blow the tires right off the rims. I am sooooooooooooooo in love with Boost it aint funny

On the Dyno your right in saying you wont see a massive increase in HP, HOWEVER you will see a BIG increase in TQ as you increase your Boost,
and man I got to tell you that makes driving the Lightning amazing and simply magic each and everytime I get in it.....
"And it will equal ET down the 1320"

Currently I'm running a 10-1/4" Lower and 2.7" Upper AND I STILL WANT TO INCREASE THE BOOST

What Rob is trying to say is that the 18 HP number is just at the HP peak. There are larger HP gains lower in the powerband, where the supercharger is not being overdriven into inefficiency.

Acceleration is a function of the horsepower delivered all across the powerband, with the exception that the very low RPMs are useful only in first gear. After the shift into second, you are only using the mid and upper ranges.

Rob,

I love your enthusiasm!! I too am one of those guys that loves boost. I'm still running stock boost, only because I haven't found a great shop to deal with, but I love and I quote "Jumping off the seat and smashing the gas pedal right thru the floor" Or something like that which was another of you comments.

Boost=
No boost=

A larger pulley is in my future for sure.

Dan

Thanks Dan
And just to make sure you got it right
Jump out the MF seat, and stomp that SOB through the Floor Boards

I live in northern Ohio and dont know where a good tuner is,and I'm not gonna try mail order. so I'm making 12.5lbs boost and with the very aggressive pred tune it works great,so I figure my motor and charger will live a long life.Combine this with 4.10 gears and nitto dr's it still = mid to low 12's,with Bassani mid's and cat-back, and lfp cai.
