Thumbs up PSP 2000 Chip Installed!

Just received the PSP chip for my 2000. Install was quick and simple. 85 degrees outside on the way to work this morning. It was well worth the wait! I absolutely cannot believe how much different this truck feels. Here are my assesments after my first drive:

Much stronger acceleration throughout powerband.

1-2 and 2-3 shifts very solid and firm.

Shift point appears to be 5500-5600 rpm (haven't been watching tach closely as I'm focusing on the roadway)

No more "thud" noise and bog at the shift point due to 4 injectors shutting down.

At shift points very strong accelearation.

Better throttle response.

Boost appears to come on faster.

And the best part!!--No more dreaded 25-30 mile per hour downshift only to 2nd gear. Several times today at 40 mph constant speed, I nailed it and it kicked down into 1st. What an incredible driveability performance difference.

Very, very pleased with the chip and filter combo--thanks Sal.

Doug,
It is a single profile temporary chip. Sal will replace with the multiple profile once he obtains those chips from his vendor. It took about 6 weeks.

nick d,

I ordered it directly from his website.

The way I looked at the chip and filter was very simple: I looked at all the numerous posts, saw that Sals typically had a long lead-time and never a negative post about performance/quality, but I saw many posts of other chips sending them back and forth for recalibration. Well, I'd rather wait several weeks, plug it in and have it work the first time. The small wait is negligible compared to the time frame you will enjoy you L with the chip and filter. Be patient---it is well worth the wait.

Hi Guys,
I have got to get in touch with Sal. I have mulled over this, thought, and done more thinking. I am ready to purchase the Chip & Filter Charger kit as soon as he gives me an ok. I will post in the vendor section, and give him an e-mail.

Cool

Met, you can order the chip now. I don't think he has a hold on those orders. That way you'll have a place in line while you wait.

Peter..... glad to see that you like the new chip. I was wondering how the chip performed under normal conditions. IE starting-idle-traffic-etc. I know the power and shift points were important but just wondering if there was any neg trade off. Your thoughts please. Don
