Oil Change

Ok been looking for like an hour and can't find the answer to my question. What kind of oil is everyone using? I have had my truck for about 3 weeks and according to the sticker it's time for a oil change. I read in the manual and it says to use 5W20. I have never used that I always have used mobil 1 5w30. So anyway what oil and filter is everyone using in your L.

Thanks

Sounds like Mobile is the winner. Are you guys running regular or synthetic? How bout oil filter? Is the motorcraft one any good or should I go with wix or k&n? How bout castrol synthetic? I was thinking about going 5w20 in that with a motorcraft filter. Later!!

Use motorcraft 5W20 which is semi-synthetic and is cheaper than Mobil 1 along with motorcraft FL-820S filter.

Like most of us you probably will change your oil every 3000 miles so why waste your money on synthetic oil.

I have been using Mobil 1 5w30 for 5 years now with no problems. ALL year round. I have tried all kinds of filters though. I usually just pick up a fram or motorcraft. The mobil 1 filter is pricey, and I doubt its any better than the others...

motorcraft 5w-20 and motorcraft filter... 115k miles and when i pulled the motor after i lifted a head the bearings looked brand new, no sludge or anything

Also autozone sells it by the case.. i usualy by the 12pack case and 2 filters ..Every now and then i buy a few extra bottles just to have around to top off the motor if needed, etc..

Hmm, I guess I'll go with Motorcraft 5w20 with the motorcraft filter. I been a mobil user for some time now but 6 bucks a quart is crazy!! I may try to find mobil 5w20 non synthetic that 5000 mile stuff and change it every 3K miles. Heck I don't know I gotta make up my mind though cause I'm gonna try to change it friday. Thanks for the input guys.

For a dino oil, Castrol and Chevron Supreme are excellent oils. I've been running Chevron Supreme in my Lincoln Navigator and it has 118,000 miles. Good maintenance practice is the most important I also use either the Purolator Pure one filter or the Motorcraft filter.

$36 every 3k miles is worth it IMO. Nothing but the best for my baby.
