Difference between Roush and Lightning?
This may sound like a stupid question to some, but what is the difference between the Roush F-150 and the Lightning? I think their both bad *** and would love to have either one!!!!

The Roush has an extra cab, is a little bit slower, and carries an additional $20K or so on the sticker. There have been 2 stage II's (no supercharger) at our local Ford dealership for about 3 months now and they can't get rid of them. Jack is just too proud of his work. The Roush just seems too damn expensive for what it is (IMHO).

Roush is for show. LIGHTNING IS FOR GO. Or as we use to say. "If it don't go chrome it." You get the idea? Actually there is a stage III Roush that's suppose to go good but I've never seen one.

Check with Mumbly-he owns a Roush. And by the way, they come in regular cab also.I've seen them loaded for $29,000. The main difference is the type supercharger used. The Lightning uses an Eaton style which creates alot more power down low.
Fun Topic. Let's start off with the fact that Roush Designed about 80% of the Gen 2 Lightning. The Roush F150 has been out since 97 which makes it the older brother.
The Roush F150 comes in many different packages ie Stages. Here they are
The Sport package: Argent aluminum alloy wheels (18" x 9.5", shown with optional chrome wheels) with 295/45-18" tires Roush F-150 suspension (including: Bilstein shocks front & rear, front coil springs, rear leaf springs) 2 chamber exhaust system Roush 3" stainless steel side exit exhaust tip window banners floor mats Roush emblems.
The Stage 1: Argent aluminum alloy wheels (18" x 9.5", shown with optional chrome wheels) with 295/45-18" tires Roush F-150 suspension (including: Bilstein shocks front & rear, front coil springs, rear leaf springs) 2 chamber exhaust system Roush 3" stainless steel side exit exhaust tip bumper cover fog lamps window banners floor mats Roush emblems.
The Stage 2: Argent aluminum alloy wheels (18" x 9.5", shown with optional chrome wheels) with 295/45-18" tires Roush F-150 suspension (including: Bilstein shocks front & rear, front coil springs, rear leaf springs) 2 chamber exhaust system Roush 3" stainless steel side exit exhaust tip bumper cover fog lamps side skirts window banners floor mats Roush emblems
Stage 3: Roush is working on there own supercharger and that will be the extra piece to this stage.
Options: CNC Billet machined Roush pedals wood dash and door trim wood steering wheel high performance leather seating with Roush ID chrome wheels fender flares square tube trailer hitch cover
All of these packages can come in a Regular or Super Cab. This is not an option for the Lightning thus far.
Duck01, The dealer that has those Roush F150s are way over priced, I bought my truck and got the Roush Stage 2 with extras all for the price of $32,000. If I'm correct this is the price of the Lightning. Since then I have added a Supercharger by Kenne Bell at a cost of around $4,500.
You guys are right, most Roush F150s that are for sale are for show and not go. Heck I have wasted many a Lightning now at shows, but I'm sure if I would have gotten a Regular Cab F150 and Roushed it out, done a Supercharger on a 5.4, then it would have been more comparable. I'm sure when Roush gets there Supercharger that will be a roots style we will see what happens. One other thing to remember is that the Roush suspension will out corner a Lightning, this is why many of the Lightning owners have placed Roush supension on their trucks.
As far as which is better, who knows, to each is their own.

As you can see from my sig..... I've spent a few bucks at Roush....
Mumbly has posted a very accurate rundown of the Roush packages. The Roush kits are for the most part are supposed to be a dealer option that is Ford approved. (meaning if installed by a Roush dealer there are no warranty issues)
I was just down at Roush West in Los Angeles CA and had my new Silver L right next to a new Silver Roush F-150.... same body and box. The body kit on the Roush F-150 is soooo much better than the crappy body kit we have on our Lightnings. Have you takin a good look at the body kit on your Lightning... I don't think there are two parts that compliment each other.
The suspensions on the Roush trucks are awesome. They are very streetable and handle great!!! My 98 Roush F-150 Ext Cab handles like a Luxury Touring Car.... very smooth and firm and the long wheelbase makes for a very stable ride. The ride highth of the Roush suspension is just right!!! Low and mean !!!! (check out photos of BAbolts L )
All in all the Lightning shows great value... so much bang for the buck.

Mumbly-
I thought that the price was high, too. They had a bunch of Roush Stangs there for cheap and they sold in about 2 days. The trucks both have a sticker in the window that has a "Roush Price" and says something like "These prices are not MSRP. They are actual costs and are NON NEGOTIABLE." That's probably why 2 good looking trucks are STILL on the lot and haven't moved yet. I haven't seen if they've lowered the price since they got 'em. I'll look next time I'm home.
