Post Rivalry

Now I don't want to start something like the MAD issue, but a friendly rivalry seems to be developing between PSP Team and SuperChip.

It can only help us Bolt owners go even faster. I run a SuperChip and look forward to
racing PSP and others. For right now I proudly fly the SuperChip banner, as so far it is SuperChip 1 PSP 0 at our local track.

Like I said I want this to be friendly and those that feel a need to flame, please disregard, not inteterested in your retort.

May the best Chip win. : ^ )

Dogrun1,
Since you are a new member I must let you know that I was one of the original people to run a Superchip(r.p.m. file). I myself had no problem with it, it now actually belongs to SCOTTODOG. And he is pleased with it.I decided to run a PSP chip after finding out that it takes many shipments back and forth to get the chip right, and was not looking forward to the down time.Ever since my change I have had better all around performance, not to mention that PSP placed the top 4 qualifing spots at the WFC,but like I said, this is my opinion I only wish some more of Superchip L`s would have showed up, Johnny Lightning was the only one there supporting Superchip, I must say he did an excellent job at it... There is no rivalry between PSP and Superchips, their products speak for themselves.

Actually it's at least 2 for Superchips and at least 1 for PSP. I have a Superchip and ZorPrime bought the PSP which I believe he said he just sent back to get the speedo corrected for different gears. WFC2000 was kind of a friendly rivalry between chips as well. I have a lot of respect for Sals products after watching some of the other guys run with PSP chips. But like everything else, you can't base performance results on the chip alone. Many of the vehicles had other modifications as well such as the shift kits, converters, full Bassani exhaust, different gears, tires, etc. I saw Johnny Lightning run a 13.2 with only the SuperChip, a cone filter, and drag radials. Christy Ann ran a 13.4 with the PSP chip on stock F1 tires.I believe she also has Sals intake kit. As far as service goes, Johnny Lightning and I were able to get help from SuperChips numerous times to try different things while at WFC. Team PSP were making frequent program changes to their chips as well.
What it boils down to is either chip is much better than none. The production SuperChip is CARB certified, I don't know if Sals is. This may be important in areas where emissions are tested and strictly enforced as in many of the major metroplitan areas (i.e. Chicago). I believe most people are happy with either chip. The one thing I've noticed however is that many people are disgruntled with the time to delivery of the PSP products. Not that they are not worth the wait, Sal makes high quality stuff. With all the exposure Sal got at WFC2000 I can only imagine that his delivery times will lengthen. Most people expect when they order something of this nature, it will be shipped that day. This is not currently the case with PSP as it is a sideline business to Sals regular job. There are not enough Lightnings out there for Sal to make it a full time business either. Too bad , because he is good with them.
It was nice meeting you and ZorPrime Tuesday at Route 66, see you again sometime, maybe I can give you a better run with my L. than I did with the Cobra.

I second Spiro on Good Luck breaking into the 12's.

Hey, you make my point. SuperChip took note of the PSP success and has racheted it up a notch, I wonder how the drag strip only mode will help me out. So far 13.342 best, I hope I can get that impossible : ^ ) 13.2 !

If I could only launch better, need more practice. Good racing to you. Note: The Trans AMs guys are impressed with the Bolt,
beating up on them. Haven't run a RAM AIR yet tho.

So far my "personal" experience

a bone stock 00 Bolt ran 14.2
Zorprime ran 13.9 spinning his 3.73 gears
Lightning Bob ran 13.5x
The night I met ZorPrime and Lightning Bob my worst run was a 13.6xx

So times are all over the place depending on
air, and mods etc. Look forward to seeing more local Bolts at Route 66 where it's a 1/4 mile to GLORY !

Hey Dorgun,
Just sent the chip out to be recalibrated for the 3.73 gears.I believe it also will fix the shift probs also. The next trip to the track i'll take will probably be to Union Grove. You can usually get alot of runs in.Next time i wont have a full tank of gas when i run.Im hoping for much much better than the 13.9's i was turning.Hard to keep those damn 3.73's from spinning. It was great meeting You and Lightning Bob.I really love the PSP chip.Maybe ill be able to run some mid 13's along side you guys next time.

Arent you running the "drag only" chip which requires 104+ octane to get those numbers. If you dont put that out, its kinda misleading. Everone with a superchip will think they can get 13.1's but they don't know they need a new program and 104+octane fuel which isn't cheap. Getting to be about $5 a gallon I think. You want it to be fair, then tell everything. Do you run slicks or stock F1's? These kinda things are "nice to know".

Johnny
You'll get it next time, I have a feeling

I think that what chip anyone decides to use is based on personal preference. I personally wouldn't use anything but PSP but Johnny and Bob are loyal to SuperChip and I don't think anything is wrong with either, you can get great results from either and I don't see why ther would be any rivalry. I personally would rather save it for the LS1s hehehe

2000, i'm sorry if i seemed to be misleading not my intension what soever. when i ran my 13.0 @ 104.7 i wasn't using the *race* version which requires the 104 fuel. it was the #1 program on my chip which requires only 93 octane. and the 13.0 was on stock f1's. ihavn't yet todate got a better 60 ft. with either the bf goodriches or the e.t. streets. but i just didn't want to keep burning up my f1's so i swithced. i am running the et streets now but ive yet learned how to get them to hook. thats why i'm confident that i should hit 12's because of the terrible 60 fts. i'm getting, the *race* program is stronger than the #1 program. last night i switched it to the #1 and ran a 13.3 hope this clears things up johnnylightning wants to be upright and honest all the way! i'll help anyone the best i can i don't care who's chips they run bottom lline is were fellow lightning owners here! CA i agree 100% no rivalry on my part. just having fun!!!

As regards to PSP vs. SuperChip,

There were some on here that gave the impression that PSP was better than SuperChip, Sal was more directly involved etc. Bolt owners new to the site (me included) wanted to know what chips were better, they wanted the BEST, and why not ?
So there is a rivalry anyway, akin to Pesi vs. Coke if you will, both products are great, but if one falls behind we will
hear about it on this site fairly quickly.
Rivalry is not bad, it creates better products for all of us. No name calling needed, just friendly competition.
