Post Oil leaking from supercharger!

Well I have the strangest thing happening with my blower. There is a little oil residue/puddle on the top, just behind the pulley. It's very clean and minor volume, but when I wipe it away, it reappears in a day or two. Can't tell where it's coming from! I thought it might be coming from one of the bolts holding the front plate on, but there's no trail. A friend suggested it might be coming from the seal where the pulley shaft comes through.

Anybody out there have this problem?

How many miles does your L have on it? I have a '94 T-bird SC and a little leaking from tbe blower is not bad. If it's coming from the nose cone, I'd have it checked out. It may not be sealed correctly. I dont know if your blower has a screw you can undo to check the blower fluid, but if so I'd do that as well.

I only have 6200 miles on it. I have a company car that I drive in bad weather and when I'm out of town. Heck, My L hasn't even been driven in the rain yet.

Radar:

My eaton was doing the same thing from day one. If you see oil behind the blower pulley, it's the front seal. NEW BLOWER TIME.
Ford will not replace just the front seal. No problems, it's under warranty.

You can do a little test to see if it was just like mine?
1. Clean blower pulley & blower with brake clean, let dry.
2. Road test for a mile ( do not let it make any boost). Look under hood for any leaks.
3. Raod test again, this time HAMMER IT, make it work hard. MAX BOOST.

On test, 2. you should not see any oil.
On test, 3. If it's like my old one, oil will be all over the place. The pulley sprays oil every where.

Good Luck
Kevin

Thanks for the info, Kevin. I appreciate it, and will give your test a try.

Question

Radar,
What ended up happening when you followed Jigawatts advice?

Has anyone else encountered this problem, because I have made a list, and if more then 5 people arrive at the same conclusion, then I make a special mark. This helps the dealerships we all attend to know it's not just a simple "coincidence".

Unhappy

My SC Bird had that problem about a year after I got it. Ford just replaced the blower and didn't say a word. I haven't had problem with my L but if you are out of warr. it's part of fuel syst. and should be covered under emission warr.
