Post Super Ford July 00 issue

Dyno test on 99 Lightning:
Pro-M 80mm 12 " conical filter 11 HP
Complete Bassani exhaust 12 HP

I've heard the Pro-M 80mm is not needed, I only have an AiRAID. Comments ?

I've heard headers would help, I think that is the next best mod to do. Comments ?

Later a gear change, slicks, trans work.
Ant tips on what NOT to do. Like I don't want to break something by not doing mods in the correct order.

Thanks

You bet Zorprime:

Superchip
PSP inlet tube/filter kit
TransGo shift kit

Note that the dyno #s listed were with chip only, and the best ET listed was with chip and PSP filter kit only. However, I will always maintain that my best ET/MPH were achieved on an outstanding day to race. Air quality and track conditions were awesome.

One other question if you dont mind wes,
Is it a good idea to get a shift kit?I want to go with the transgo but i dont know if having a shift kit w/chip is a great idea or not.
As you can see my mods, I was still only able to achieve a 13.9 ET w/mods.Had to send the chip back to sal to be recalibrated for the gears.I was hoping for better, guess i need to learn how to drive.

I wouldn't be so hard on yourself. I don't know what the conditions were like when you ran a 13.9, but varying conditions make a HUGE difference in ETs (and trap speeds as well). People who don't think so, just haven't been racing very long. I have quantifiable data to back this up from 7 years of racing experience with various vehicles. As hot as it is in N. TX right now...I would be happy with a 13.5x out of my truck (even with the shift kit).

JIGAWATT was the one who convinced me to get a shift kit...even with a chip. He has one of Sal's chips. Trust me, you will not be sorry. It works great with the chip. So well that I even installed one in my wife's '00 Expedition (which also has a Superchip). I just used different specs on that vehicle b/c the shifts don't need to be as firm, IMO.

Anyway, you'll notice a big difference in shift quality over what you have now, even though I'm sure the chip improved the shifts over the stock programming. The shifts in my truck are very crisp and firm, but you only really feel this under load. At part-throttle acceleration, you will _know_ its there when it shifts, but it is not obnoxious or anything like that. But, full throttle the TransGo kit made a huge difference...more than the chip did over the stock shift quality.

I would recommend this to any L owner, and its very simple to do if you don't mind getting some trans fluid on your arms.
