?s about the '95 Lightnings
Ok ya'll I'm looking at purchasing a red '95 Lightning w/ about 119,00 miles on it. On the '95s what in particular should I be looking for to make sure is in good condition other then the norm when considering a used vehicle of that age? From the body pics it looks in good condition only saw a couple of minor dings. Hopefully the eng. and drivetrain are in that good a condition and the interior. What is a good price to pay for this truck. They are asking 7500.00 but I'm thinking more along the lines of 5000 to 5500 maybe depending on condition of course. I own an SVT focus so I've done my homework on SVT vehicles but I'm lacking on the older SVT vehicles so thats why I'm asking for your help. Thanks for any help ya'll!!

If there asking $7,500 for the truck what makes you think they will sell it for $5,000?? If the truck is clean it is worth $6,500 Tops but if your buying it to resale then you should pay no more than $5,000. There is a red 95' Lightning down the street from me for sale with 116,000 miles & the guy is asking $6,900. I already talked to him on the phone & he said his bottom line number is $6,500. The truck is worth that but I would only buy it to resale so It's not worth it to me. Good Luck.
Go to nloc.net & look in the Gen 1 section.

Well I looked at the truck today and I must say that it is in very good condition. Very clean and everything looks to be in good shape for that age. The stereo doesn't work but the guy said he probably hooked it up wrong. I don't have any tapes to play in it so it would be gone soon anyways. The only other thing I have a consern with is that the steering wheel seems to have alot of play in it. Play like as in I can turn the wheel in either direction a good ways before the truck actually starts to turn. Does anyone know what that could be? Thanks ya'll!
The play in the steering wheel means the steering box is worn, needs replaced. There is an adjustment screw you can turn to tighten the steering, but it does not last long at all, and still does not steer as it should. If that is the case other steering components are probobly in the same condition if not repaired already. I owned a '94 and a '95 before the 99 I have now. Check radius arm bushings also. Go over to www.nloc.net and search the gen1 forum, there is all the info you could ever need on that subjuect, and countless others you might have questions on.
