Smile Weekend without "clunky's"

Hey guys,
I started over 2 weeks ago to address the clunk from the lower control arm. I have to thank Sal, Mark W, and all others who have posted on this subject.

I started with the selling dealer service-(Me)"Hi-My lower left control arm bolt is moving on my '00 L and I'm getting a clunking noise;do you think you can put a washer on it or tack weld the bolt head in place?" (dealer service writer-"A Lightning? That's a truck right?"...See ya..

On to plan B. Dealer 'B' parts..
(Me) "I need a cam bolt set for a '00 L." (Dealer parts)What the H**l are you doing engine work on a new truck for?" AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH! Ok, after explaining what it was I was after the order was placed. I wanted Ford parts and I WAS at the parts counter so I decided to tough it out. The bolts promptly arrived... but less the cams and nuts (separate part numbers). After MULTIPLE reorders (they ordered the cams and nuts one-at-a-time!), it was off to the alignment guy.

Here's what I got: 4 Cam bolts
(# F65Z*3B236*BB),4 Cams (#F65Z*3C178*AA),
4 nuts (#N805480*S160).All for $89.24. There are a cam bolt and nut listed for the infamous moving bolt, and I thought I was onto something, but there is no cam listed for that bolt (it's bigger than the upper cam set)and no way to anchor the bolt to the elongated hole so it's useless.

BTW at the alignment place they convinced me to tack weld 'the bolt'. Just so it absolutely, positively has to stay there.

One final note, please don't assume that I am slamming Ford factory service/parts. Most know their stuff as evident from those here. So to those in the immediately above catagory, thank-you and keep up the good work.

Have a great weekend!
