Thumbs up Swanson Perfermance Chip

Hey Guys,
I ordered a chip from swansonperformanc.com. I called and taked with Danny and he mailed the chip in three days. I have a first run hypertech chip and was really looking to see if I could see much change with the new one "my best et is 13.1 with this hpyertech chip". Anyway, I recieved the chip the next week and put it in. The difference in shifts was unbelievable. Second to overdrive and the lock up was great, the red truck was pulling strong. Ran the chip 1/2 a day and the overdrive on the shifter started blinking, then the shifts when to hell. I was not a happy person when I got home and was looking farward to calling Danny. Walked in the house and the phone had a message from Danny calling from CA to Louisana to check on his chip. Told him about it and he said send it back and he would fix it. The guy is great and I have to admit the UPS boxed looked like it had been carried on the outside instead of the inside. Danny is also working on a single bladed throttle body which should help with the flow in. Call him and you will buy his chip.
Alvin

dogleg,

I too bought a chip from Swanson Performance and am very pleased with it. After talking to Danny over the phone and explaining what I wanted I sent him my check and when he received my check I got the chip a few days later.

I was very impressed after I installed in my 'L.... after driving my 'L a few days prior to Fun Ford Weekend here in Houston I was not happy with the 1-2 shift because it was firmer than I expected, but was what I asked for. So I called Danny and he said to send it back and he would take care of it. Well... it was hard removing it. My L' became very wimpy as I'm sure you will find out when you remove yours if you haven't already done so.

Anyway I sent it back and within 6 days it was back in my now happy truck.

He also mentioned about the single bladed throttle body. Since BBK is near him he may be able to get it in production and in addition Danny mentioned doing a Ram Air for the '99,'00 Lightning. I would be very interested in that too.

I was going to get my L' dynoed yesterday(Sayurday) but Donnie at Flat Rate Racing was not in. Since I based lined my 'L before the chip I wanted to see what gains were made with the chip. Oh well will try next weekend.

By the way..... Danny really takes care of his customers!!!

Let me know how things turn out. You can e-mail me at jarmstro@wt.net.

Regards,

* About the single bladed throttle body....
JBA here in San Deigo put a Cobra single bladed throttle body out of the FRPP catalog onto a 99 Lightning. They said it took some minor modification but it works great. I seen it and it fits perfect. Dont know what they had to do to make it work though. I think it had to do with the TPS or the throttle acuatator it self the way it hooks to the cable.

* And the Ram Air system
JBA also has made ram air box that fits a twin snorkle hood (dont remember the maker) that uses the drivers side snorkle for the air inlet. JBA custom makes these boxes and cost about $700 plus the hood

Red2000SVT,

The throttle body sounds interesting, however I would prefer one that just bolts on without modifying it and knowing it will work.

I have seen many Ram Air Hoods and my favorite is for the SVO Mustangs, but again I would rather not spend money on cometic type stuff. I prefer having as stock looking outside as possible and put money in the engine where it belongs. I have gone through 7 Mustangs, a '94 Lightning, T-Bird and '99 SVT Contour. The Lightning was real fast and a '91 Black Mustang along with a '93 Chrome Yellow Mustang. The others were just fast..... all were simple on the outside nothing too strange sorta like sleepers.

What fun though.....

I appreciate you info.

Well I'm going to try out Daniel Swanson"s chip. I talked to him today and he is seems to know what he is talking about. I told him want I wanted as far as performance and shift firmness. I asked if he could have the chip to my place by Thursday so I could go to the track Friday and see how it compares to the superchip that I now have in there. He told me no problem...they are in CA and I'm in IN. He also told me about the lifetime warranty. I'm a bit unhappy with my current pcm setup since my mph has fallen since the reburn. We will see what happens.. Jeff

JeffsLightning,

Needless to say I will be interested in gains you will get with Danny's chip. I have an appointment to make a couple pulls on the dyno this Saturday to see what improvements were made after I got Swanson Performance's chip.

I'm curious as to what all you asked him to modify on yours.

I just got the SPC today and installed it about an hour ago. I only took the Lightning for a 3 or 4 mile ride and tranny shifts harder than with the other chip. Hopefully I'll be able to get some track time in tommorrow and see if I'm back down in the low 13's again..

Thumbs up

Installed Danny Swansons chip yesterday along with my new 4:10's and it is awesome. The truck hits hard every gear. Shift points are right on the money (5600) Getting second gear scratches. I am ordering the Pro-M tomorrow and I am going to use this with the Airaid system. I believe it will work with some Modification. My father had a chip done locally for his for (get this) 525.00 and it actually slowed down the truck. The company now does not know how to fix this so I guess my father is now 525 dollors poorer. He now ordered the same chip I have for his and it will be here in the morning. I like how Danny Swanson works, I got a hold of him @ 4:00 his time and the chip was taken to Fed ex and will be here in less than 24 hours. THIS is a GREAT GUY. I have no complaints with him. I think I will have him make a chip for my father's 1st Gen L since I have tried 2 other Manufactores and had no luck with a good chip.

crush69 & All,

FYI... Danny called me last night around 7:00PM our time, 5:00PM his time and let me know he had recieved my money order for the Pro-M and also let me know he would have to reburn my chip at no charge. The reason as he explained was the Pro-M will lean the truck out more which he already does with the chip and too lean causes big problems as I'm sure you know.

The way I look at it he did not have to tell me this, much less call me. No doubt the man is honest. I respect that!!

So now I will pull my chip my 'L is gonna be real wimpy till I get my chip back along with the Pro-M.

Even with my 3:55s I can chrip the tires, with Danny's chip. I would prefer the 4:10s, cause the way I look at it, big truck needs big gears, but will hold off for awhile before I get this done cause will address the lack of traction first. Wonder if Griggs Torque Arm would work on the Lightning?

Enjoy and keep us posted on your results.

Suggestion.... check to see if Danny can reburn your Dad's chip. If it is like the one you have it may cost less money. It's worth a try.
