I printed this procedure when it was first posted. I think I have it yet in my office. I'll look tomorrow, and if nobody has posted it by then I will.

Sorry to pull up such a old thread

Today my service engine soon light came on, so I did the procedure listed above from Mustang world.

It showed that I have a dtc 5284 code = Oil Pressure Switch Failure

I was wondering if anyone knows where the Oil Pressure Switch is, so I can check to see if it might have just come loose or unpluged?

Also will it hurt to drive with it this way

Thanks

Don

Exclamation NOT a code reader...

Guys, that diag procdure is bogus, you can only get codes out of the HEC module by doing that, not the PCM. Don C, don't worry about that pil pressure code, that comes up every time you do that test. Like I said, it's bogus

Thanks Sal I guess I will have to wait till next friday to see whats going on with the SES light. It seams to be running OK but I hate driving around with that light stairing me in the face.

Are there any fairly inexpensive test tools I can get that are any good, so I will be able to tell whats going on, so I can have some pease of mind?

There are a few cheap code scanners out there, but most of them don't do all cars, and most of them are outdated in a year. Plus the cheap ones don't usually give the correct info . You ever come to Long Island at all? I'd be happy to put the NGS on and check for you. We also have a local track here too if you wanna come down for some passes

Sal well maybee this fall I might make a trip to Long Island and take you up on your offer. I am a little to busy till then, but thanks for the offer.

I am just getting a little tired of these SES lights. This is my 3rd ford truck to keep setting off that light. I just don't know why Fords have such problems with there sensors. It seams that it is allways something real stupid that sets off the light.

HEHE Well I hope your not mad at me, I fixed it myself. It turned out a vacuum line came undone. I plugged it back in, disconected the battery for a while, and it has been fine all weekend.
