Getiing oil in the intake is perfectlly normal, though loosing that much oil is not normal at all.

When you say you barely have any oil, just how much did you have to add??

Since you just changed your oil, I would check a few things.
-Make sure when you changed the filter you don't have 2 gaskets between the filter and the engine.
-look under the truck and see if there is a ton of oil anywhere
-also how many quarts of oil did you put in, it takes 6 quarts.

To be honest I have no idea why you are so low on oil.

Yep exactly what he said
They all get oil in the Upper (and other places)
But being low IS ANOTHER WHOLE MATTER

Exaclty how much oil did you add to bring it back up to the mark ???

i just found out today, havent put any in yet, not drivin it. it's normal to have oil in the intake tube? i put in 5 quarts last time but it was in the fall and i didn't drive much in the winter. it has been making a really funny noise out of the intake the last couple weeks.. makes a womp womp sound once in a while when i start it up and sometime while driving out of the intake. My air filter was always really dirty.
