Post AIRAID owners that want to be part of a group buy of Powerstack Filters

IMPORTANT NOTICE: when this thread was originally started, there was a screw-up in the name of the filter. Autophysics originally said "powerstack." The filter that we will be getting is the "Big Mouth." Because of the goof, Autophysics is not going to charge the $5.00 shipping fee. So when you read this thread, remember when you see some of the negative thoughts the wrong filter was being talked about.

There are two sizes to choose from: 9" and a 10"

P.S. just to let everyone know, I do not make any $$$ from or work for Autophysics. I am doing this only because I want to purchase a filter and I wanted to get it a little cheaper. That is why I started a group buy.
____________________________________

I have been in contact with Autophysics and they will give us a very good discount if we group buy 8 or more Powerstack Filters and shipping will be free if 16 or more filters are purchased.

The Powerstack, from what I have heard, is the same cone filter that comes in Sal's system.

Go to: http://www.autophysics.com to view the two type of cone filters, the K&N type and the Powerstack. Sal uses the Powerstack because he has discovered a problem because of the covered end on the K&N type filters.

Powerstack has two sizes that will fit: a 8" and a 10" filter. The K&N that comes with our kit is 9"

The widest part of the K&N and the Powerstack filter is 6" and they both taper down to:
the K&N 4 3/4 and the Powerstack to 5 1/4.

The over all length of our K&N is 11" The Powerstack 8 is 10" and the 10 is 12"

Both the 8" and the 10" will fit. We have to decide which size would be best. After I have a consensus from this group and Autophysics about size, Autophysics will let us know our cost.

If you would like to be a part of the group purchase, please let me know by re-posting with your OK and e-mail me your name and e-mail address so that I can keep you in touch.

Jim,
I have been trying to get Sal to sell me the PowerStack with OuterWear for his quoted to me price of $86.

It's been more than a month so I have e-mailed him (for the 3rd time...) for advice....If I don't hear from him in a few days count me in...

Autophysics has quoted a group price of $42.50 + 5.00 shipping for the Powerstack 8" filter and $48.50 + 5.00 shipping for the 10" filter.

Which is a fantastic price. Retail for the 8 is $69 and the 10 is $77

Since these things come in different colors can we order the color that we want or will that mess up the purchase?

We can pick the color of our choice.

let me know your thoughts on the 8" vs. 10"

When I measure (the 10" filter is actually 12" long) the 10" filter will rest on the raised part of the box approx. 5" from the airhole in the fender. Does everyone feel this will work?????

to tvw

I don't know which size Sal uses. Does anyone know??

Autophysics has said that there must be at least 1" of airspace in front of the filter which in our case there is approx. 5" if the 10" filter is used and 7" for the 8"

Jim, count me in for one. I would be surprised if there is any significant difference in flow between the 2 sizes that would effect the horsepower. I would lean toward which ever one fits better, if they both fit good, get the bigger one, color does not matter to me, whatever makes someone happy is fine. Thanks, Jeff

Ford,

I believe Sal uses a 9" by 3.5" filter.

I would like to participate yet I already purchased a filter (9" x 4") from another dealer and have to exchange it. Therefore, I will need to forego the group purchase. OBTW, the pirce I paid was real close than the group deal price from autophysics.

My airraid order was placed yesterday and I should have it and the exchange done by the end of next week.

I'll post my thoughts after i get it installed and keep my dogs from howling along with the blower (they like to go fast too but they hate the seat belts) This is my first mechanical mod and I am ready.

Peace!!
