Post Heartache

Took the L to the dealer for repairs. (clunk, seat wear and tailights. He said to have everything finished in a day, well 3 days later I had to call him, in fact they would not answer the phone and I drove to the dealer. (It was close to closing time for the service department.) They said the seat was being installed in the truck at this time and I could take the L home tonight. I asked to see the truck before I left and we couldn't find the truck, the manager said the team leader was taking it for a test run. They had put the "new" star washer repair and new tires on the front. (That was like pulling teeth without pain medicine.) Well, when I returned for the truck it was parked in the back of the lot, I had told them I would be right back and park it up front. Upon inspection (I am very proud and fussy about my toys) there were not dents but the front bumper had a 1 inch tear and scratches on the left side. I told the only person in service that I could find and they would notify the service director. I was leaving for a MCA car show in the morning in Va beach. When I returned the director stated that they inspected my L and found that the bumper was damaged before they worked on the L and they documented the damage. My invoice didn't have any comments about the damage only about they repairs. We are having another meeting tomorrow. Any words of wisdom???????????????

Take it to the top of the dealership. If they noticed the problems they should have written it on the paperwork with your sig.

Exclamation

Take the argument to the main showroom floor or someplace there are other customers. If you're loud enough that will get some action.

I feel your pain.. I have had the worst dealer experiences with my lightning.. I hate to leave it anywhere at all, especially the dealer!!! My suggestion is find out who the local customer service rep is, demand the repair, and it will be taken care of.. Then find a dealer who has a good body shop.. Build a rapor with the techs and only have work done on it when you can stay and wait for it.. This avoids those un-necessary "test drives". Also be a royal pain in the a$$!!! I've found that when the service people see how crazy you are about details they are afraid to even touch the thing when you aren't looking!!! We worship our trucks, and they want to see "if it's as fast as advertised!!"

Don't screw around with the peons. Go directly to the GM of the dealership. Tell him in no uncertain terms that his employees damaged your truck while joy riding and you want it fixed right now and if not you have pleanty of people to document in court that there was no damage to the trucks bumper when you brought it in and you want a free loaner while they fix it.
When you get truck back find a new dealership.

Before I ever would take my truck or car (before the car theives stole it) to the dealer I would do the following:

If it was a morning drop off, I would bring donuts in for the techs... If it was an afternoon drop off, then, I would bring in taco bell in. Too spend $10 bucks on food for the techs is worth it. Usually before you even get all the stuff documented you have met about three of the techs that will or probably be working on your vehicle.

Don't know if it will work for you, but, it does for me. Now they know me by name and what I expect in the treatment of my truck.

Definitely go to the top dogs when it comes to getting this resolved. I also do it in the middle of the showroom so that others will hear. Hell, I did that at O'hare airport for a bad flight and the manager wrote a personnal check for $100 to keep me quite along with fixing my problem. Be an A$$... It works for me...

Looks like they are going to take care of painting the bumper. When I arrived at the dealership the service manager, director, and 2 mechanics were there to greet me. We looked at the L and didn't point any fingers and I didn't see the paperwork with the mechanics comments about the scratches on the bumper. The service director sent me to a body shop that works on high price cars. I am now waiting for a call from the dealership when they can start the repair.
I thinks my L was the first one that they had on the front end rack and that is where the damaged occured. Thanks for your comments.

I sold my 69 Shelby and replaced it with the L and it was worth every penny.
