Post Steve, your opinion please!

What is your opinion on putting a pic in the location area of your profile?

If you put a pic in your location area of your profile it will show up everytime you post whether you add signature or not.

I want to know your opinion on this since its your site.

Where can I change my password also?

I know that there is a "hack" out there for this but I'm not really crazy about the idea. It may look good, but since most people do not know how to properly crop, shrink and optimize images, the end result may look pretty but will significantly increase page download times...

As for password, yeah what 4D THNDR said...

I for one, like the small pictures. I have not had a problem receiving the threads and I like it when I can look at picture of the author's truck, as long as it does not take forever to receive. Plus, I used one of the pictures for wallpaper. I only wish I could get a larger picture of it (forgot who sent it). It was a professional picture of the white lightning with the word Lightning above it. If anyone knows where I can get a bigger version or another professional picture of a white lightning, I would love to have it. Thanks, Jeff

Alright Look,

First of all I apologize for everybody elses lag...I guess I just assume everybody's computer is as fast as mine, but I didn't put the image there. I asked Jared to do it for me and I never had a problem with it. All you had to do was ask me to take it off...there are TWO email addresses in my sig alone...no need to tattle tale and carry on. Second, it's gone. Whether Jared took care of it or Steve did, thanks. I'm not unapproachable...all you had to do was ask. Damn. I think you are right MS but I'm not even going to bother.

WhiteLightninSVTGirl,

I should have e-mailed you.....sorry! I was just trying to make the same point as Steve that people are going to be putting anything as an image there and it bogs the whole page down. I guess it is up to Steve if he allows it to continue.

It's cool. It's just that when there is an entire site of people doing the same thing my being singled out without being given the chance to resolve the problem in the first place was a little frustrating. Problem solved.

I touched nodody's post or signature. All I did was voice my opinion when it was requested.

One thought ... if one person has a 5k image that has to display each time one of their posts appears in a thread, what happens if 20 people with 5k images post in that thread ... slow page downloads! People get upset with the perceived performance problems with the site, I get email complaints.

...and, that is why images are not really allowed in signature files either...though people have a found a way around that, too.

...and since I have no way of controlling the width of the image (which does not belong in the "From" field), the table's may render completely wrong...ZorPrime, please do remove the image from your profile...

Check this out to see the difference https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/003309.html

The 189kb file is the one in the profile also. Talk about taking forever to download! If everyone on this site put a 190kb image in their profile it would take hours to load pages. If there were 10 posts on a page it would take roughly 8 minutes to download the page at 4kb/sec!!!

MS
Wasn't directed at you babes. Steve point taken and understood, just like a kid with a new toy. But I guess it isn't fun anymore. So we'll just stop playing with it.

Thumbs down

The one that WhiteLightninSVTGirl has in her's is dragging every page down! I looked at the actual pictures some of these people are using and they are full page images. Some of us (probably most) are on 56K connections and it takes FOREVER to load these pages now. I tried it under DUCK's page that he was testing but removed it when I saw the Webmaster's position on it. I agree that this "hack" should not be used.
