Thumbs down Fuel Pump Cluster F**K

Hey all, left work the other night, got about 12 blocks away, truck acted like it was running out of fuel. I think, great just turned 12,000 miles here comes trouble. Had to have it towed back to the dealership, wds'd it the next morn, 5.46psi at the rail, yay!!, now it needs a pump. Ordered a pump, parts guys tell me cost is around 140$ for the assembly, so to make sure that i was getting the right one, i drop the tank to check the engineering num, pull the *** out, and behold, one of the factory clamps that holds the hose to one of the pumps is loose and the hose blew off the pump, what is this preview of comming attractions??? Thought id let you all know. Later Shawn

Thumbs up

My fuel pump died at 2000 miles, I never heard if it was the fuel pump or the connection inside, it was all covered under warranty.

I know Wyldman had this problem, the connection inside failed, he fixed it with a hose clamp (i think) and that was all there was to that.

Thumbs down

I had a buddy of mine at a dealership tell me that the stock clamp on the pump was not crimped correctly on some of the earlier 99 L's, but it is supposedly fixed for '00. Kinda sucks, but if you have the means, it is easily fixed with a hose clamp. (For those of us paranoid to take our trucks to dealerships)

I installed two BBK 190 lph pumps they are the same as the older fuel injected Mustangs. Prices was $109 each. Wanted a little more fuel for perhaps a bigger shot of NOS.
