Question about Stock Block & KB
I have stock internals and run a Steig ported blower and every other mod you can do and run about 16lbs of boost. I just purchased a KB and am going to keep it down to about 14lbs and alot less timing.
I personally wouldn't run over 15lbs on a stock long block. A few things I would watch when upgrading to a KB on stock internals. 1. Watch your MAF (probably need to upgrade) to be sure not to peg it. 2. Watch your A/F ratio. Might think about upgrading fuel pumps and injectors. 3. Watch your air charge temps. An upgraded heat exchanger and true CAI is a good idea. Kenne Bell recommends NOT to run an open air filter to avoid sucking hot engine air in.
Just my $.02

I've been doing alot of research on this exact topic and the consensious is to stay near 14psi for street while some turn it up to 17psi for strip (more than I'd want to) At that point a MAF is a must. Looks like I'll be runing the SCT BA2400. The Injectors will be near thier limit so it's a good idea to upgrade for better tunability and reliablity. (I'm going to run 60#). The fuel pumps should be ok till about 500rwhp on a stock block. Keep an eye out but you shouldn't need to upgrade. I read and read and could probably get away with just a MAF at 14psi (my 2000 has an 80mm MAF, the 90mm MAF may be enough) but I think you are pushing your luck with the injectors. $500 for injectors is a small price to pay to keep your block together. Search through my old posts there are other recent topics on this you can read for yourself.
